Default How do I remove a air bubble from a carbon fuel applique??

Hey everyone, well the title explains it all, I recently bought a carbon fiber fuel door applique from Sparks Toyota.... and I was putting it on, and it came out PERFECT!! it was beautiful i love carbon fiber now, I'm so gonna go with the whole carbon hood/spoiler/fenders and everything! LoL.. but anyway BACK ON SUBJECT! It was perfect UNTIL! about an hour sitting in the sun, than i noticed when i was coming out of "A store" I can see in the sunlight it looked like the carbon was bent, so i went to rub my hand across SURE ENOUGH! a big AZ air bubble right in the middle, i try to peel it back but no luck, so how would i remove it? with out damaging it? im real sad, i really like how it looks too, lol

HELP PLEASE!!

Z

I would say take a very sharp pin or an X-Acto knofe with a new #11 blade and gently puncture the middle of the bubble. Then gently rub around the perimeter of the bubble until all the air is gone and the bubble is no more.

When you're puncturing it don't go straight down (into the paint). Puncture it at an angle.

That's how I would try to do it.

NO.

Dont puncture it, if you got the REAL CF door applique that scion makes, its not vinyl. Its a thick overlay with a clear coat and made of rubber.

When I first put mine on it was crooked. I had to heat it with a blow dryer for a long time and pry it off. Then I re did it. Poking a hole only really works on thin vinyl.

Yeah it will take a while and a lot of effort. I scratched my fingers up pretty bad too. If all else fails order a new one after you peel it off.

Sorry man!
I didn't realize that this was a thick sticker. I've used my method on thinner ones without problems.
