need front brake help
i was tryin to find a walkthrough about changing the front brakes but there wasnt one. just really wanted to kno how extensive it was and if i needed to kno anything special. any help would do. thanks in advance.
Easy.
1. Loosen the lug nuts on one front wheel.
2. Jack up the wheel and put a jack stand underneath where the engine cradle bolts to the body.
3. Take the wheel off.
4. Loosen both bolts that hold the caliper to the strut. These are on the back side of the caliper away from the wheel. Just loosen.
5. Remove the bolt on the lower side of the caliper.
6. Flip the caliper up, rotating it around the top bolt (which you didn't remove)
7. Now you can take the pads off the caliper. Keep track of the shims so you know how to put it all back together.
8. Some people are picky about cleaning the brakes and putting anti-squeek compound on the shims, so do this now if you want and follow directions that come with the products you use. (I don't bother. I don't care if they squeel.)
9. Now push the piston back into the caliper. You can use a C-clamp or big pliers, or you can spend lots of money on a special tool.
10. Now just put everything back together in reverse order. There is a spring loaded washer on the bottom caliper bolt, so you have to push that in when you swing the caliper back over the rotor.
