Default Just Installed my new Goldlines and I am Flabergasted

Installed a set of Goldline 2" drop springs today. Very easy install. There is a walk through here https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20769. Any way. People have commented that these springs ride better than factory springs...AND HOW!!!.... THEY DO Scion should replace their stock springs with these for every XB for production IMO I have been a car nut for 35 years. I have done many suspension mods and have changed springs in many cars. I have never had such a dramatic positive difference on a vehciles handling for so little cash and effort. I was happy with the XB as it was...a slight bit choppy. NOW it rides like a Cadillac....SOOO SMOOOTH It also is more stable in curves at speed...I have a test route I run with a series of linked right and left turns posted at 35MPH....it as more sure footed at 50 today than it was at 40 yesterday Thanks Scion Life for having such an excellent database here for us to glean Info from, allowing us to make intelligent parts buying decisions. I highly reccommend these srpings to any one considering a 2 inch drop. OH no rubbing BTW with 18x7.5 wheels wrapped in 215/40/18 tires (I actually had a slight rub with these wheels at stock height at full turn left...that went away with the drop).

Wow, cool! I'm about to order springs, and it sounds like this might be the way to go. Where did you buy yours? Online? What kind of price did you get?

I got them direct from goldline....their price was within a very few dollars of what I found elsewhere. They were very fast shipment also.

this is interesting because i read a few instances people said the ride was poor with the goldlines. this has swayed me toward the tein s-techs. but now i dont know.. i may reconsider the goldlines. I'll be sitting on 19's (215/35) so how do you think the ride will be with those? is it a bouncy ride for you? uncomfortable hitting bumps and stuff like that?

what is the exact drop on these? is it 2" front/rear or something different? i hope it's a little higher in the back to compensate for settling in and for people that have heavy audio equip in the back.

The GoldLines have a 2" drop all the way around. It will give you just a little bit of a rake look. I ran them for about 8 months before I bagged my box. I really liked the ride. I did change out the rear shocks to the moroes and the ride was much better.

the Goldlines are 2" and 2" drop. 35 series tires will be a bit rougher riding than my 40 series especially on a 19 rim I would think...but a compliant riding spring rather than stiff would help this. I think these are such a spring...a more compliant (but not loose or bouncy) ride that is smoother is what I am experiencing with these springs. I got it realigned today the toe in was out in the positive direction as expected by a little. Handle even better after setting a very slight tow in again. My test cuvry road got buzzed at 55ish thru the 25-30 MPH curves today instead of yesterdays 50ish was excellent

Default What type of wheels and tires?

I've been on Goldlines for over a year. Koni yellow sports on rear. Rides great. No problems. I am on 215 35 Kumho ASX 18". A little rough. What kind of tires are you using? THANX

when you say too soft why do you say that like its a bad thing? TOO soft would be you be scraping and bouncing around hitting bumps. why would you want it stiff as a board? xB's aren't meant to fly around corners...lowering the center of gravity even with soft springs will improve the cornering but still, it's no auto-x killer. just trying to understand your reasoning.

tell that to the owners that do do go auto x their cars. i know most of the xb owners have stated they got laughed at in the beggining then made their run with surpsising outcomes of time.

My tires are 215/40/18 BFG Gforce Sport. I test drove a 215/35/18 Scion XB and felt the tires were a bit stiff. I also drove one with the 17" option that was better. The 215/18/40 is closer to the ride of the 17 than the 18 with the 35 series. Clearances are tight but I am not scrubbing anywhere.

I dont find the ride too soft at all...it is soft and smooth until you push it....but it tracks like its on rails in hard corners. BUT thats the thing about suspension everyone likes something just a little different as far as feel. Thank goodness we have so many choices to tune in what we like

a set of coilovers would be the way to go for autox, not a set of springs. springs are mainly for comfort and appearance rather performance. if they perform, it's because the car's center of gravity is slightly lower now. your stock dampers will blow themselves over time with springs..

the goldlines are just too soft for my taste. you don't need to be stiff as boards to be better than soft.

my car is stiffer than most race cars but it handles on rails. on coilovers . i'm just saying i've lowered more than 40 scions so i know each and every spring and how it rides for the most part. tanabe df210's win best spring drop in my book.

goldlines like on rails? WOIW no , no , no. get an underframe brace , a rear subframe brace , front strut bar , rear strut bar , rear sway bar , k sport coilovers , slammed on the ground . yeah THAT rides on rails. oh and let's not forget the c pillar brace .

YUM
