Default Want to buy smoked heads and tails, which 2 go with??

hey everyone! well, im sorta in a hole right now, there r 2 good choices to go with, 1 is Blue batmobile.. his r nice! and i am for sure going to get the rear reflector and the sidemarkers smoked by him.. BUT!! i went onto headlight armor also.. and they have some nice selections too on their tails.. also you can put it over TYC tails,, which i wanted to do.. never see anybody with smoked TYC, only smoked STOCK.. anyway, i was wondering if any of you have both of their products like one person has blue batmobile or if one person has HLA's product.. if so! which one is darker and more cleaner looking like "Blacker" and also the headlights... which one can i get that will be dark, BUT LEGAL!!?? like i see on HLA's site.. they have that like invisible smoked.. or i forget what its called but its like the darkest smoke... is that legal? like can u still see the light shining through? or is it just used for show purposes... and i can get like regular smoked?? anyway HELP PLEASE!! I want to get these for my stock heads and TYC tails.. but DONT KNOW WHERE TO GO!! and also which one is a like cover/applique and which one is just a strip of tint? any of them?? help is good, thanks..

Well, the legality of this issue depends on your local laws. Technically, I think in most states, any type of film/cover applied to tailights or headlights are USUALLY illegal. However, most if not all people who I know who have them (Including myseld) have never had a problem with the police with this matter. I have the 35% film from HLA, dosen't really effect my lights at night.

hey man, thanks.. but isent there like a darker film on HLA like 20% or sumthing?? if anyone has a darker film that covers the taillight/headlight more darker please post a pic and what your feedback of it is on it... I like yours krustytheclown, but i think i want it a little more darker on the tails.. so like during the day it looks completely black, but the light still shines through.. ive seen an xB in albuquerque (In NM) and it looks nice! and like tons of cops were passing him and stuff and nothing happened.. so please help on if there is a darker but you can still see through overlay for both the headlights and taillights

Krusty, great looking photos, nice job on the install!

Yes our Smoked Taillight Kits work just fine on TYC's

Smoke

Dark Stealth Smoke

For the headlights we don't recommend going with the Dark Stealth Smoke on vehicles that need to be driven at night; they are aimed and the track / show car mkt.

We have a full set of DIY's specifically for the xB HERE

Let us know if you have any questions and good luck with your project!

I have bluebatmobile covers on my wifes 350z and Rockblocker on my xB. They both look great but I would say the Rockblockers were better just because they are made more for protection.

Here's mine with smoked projectors and smoked fogs.

The "Dark stealth smoke" looks lighter than the regular "Smoke" i think im going to have to pick up the dark stealth smoke.. and as for the headlights.. i think im just going to get smoked... but now to choose FROM WHERE hehe.. i think i wanna take Jon's advice and go for rockblocker.. but just for the headlights and get the "D.S.S" from HLA... anyway thanks people for putting up awesome pics of your HOT (SMOKED) boxes :D

ok i love the rear tails on that dark smoke..is that an overlay or a spray on application? and can you get that done on the headlights? im curious to know how HIDs would look through that...think they would be bright enough to show through or sitll be dim?

You might want to consider taking them apart and painting the inside. I've done this with tails before, and here's the headlights I currently have-

Do a search, there's been a few DIY posts on it...

Basically you put them in the oven @ 250 degrees for 10 minutes or so to soften the sealant.

Carefully pry em apart, paint the non-reflector (vertical and horizontal) surfaces of the chrome.

Put em back together, then put em back in the oven for a bit to reseal them.

I used basic testors gloss black paint... here's a pic-
