You should be able to get an aftermarket glass done for around $350. But you'll need to do some price shopping to get that.

Don't let anybody you don't trust/have a good impression of do the work. It's a big piece of glass in front of your face, spend some cash on it.

I'm currently on my fourth windshield in my box. The prices charged have varied wildly depending on who made up the bill for the work.

At the dealership they charged my insurance company just short of $800 for replacement, and Safelite charged the Insurance company just $175... (Both used aftermarket glass, and the work done by Safelite was MUCH more competent.)

Watch 'em like a hawk while they do their work...

Hey guys, toyota is now pushing this new product, is called Diamond Fusion. Its basicly a polishing compound that fills in th e microscopic ruffness of the glass. Its waranted to if it breaks they'll replace it. Its also great for rain, seriously its like the best rainX you could ever get times 10. It also reduces glare from the street and head lights.
.
I don't have it yet, but I'm getting it soon as i now have a 15 inch crack on my front windshield. Its bad and starting to get me worried.

All in all getting this could save us all.

so how much is this stuff? I have had one chip on my windshield, never had to have it replaced (knocks on wood) but this diamond-fusion stuff sounds awsome! Where can I get and how much does it cost?

Last time I saw any ads for this it was a professional three-step (clean, layer1, layer two) job with specialized equipment and was in the $400 range for a windshield...

(Yeah, I was hoping for it to be a LOT less, myself. It's like the $400 teflon wax jobs or the $400 upholstery treatment that dealers are so fond of. Actual cost is probably like $50.)

I just did a quick search and came up with a dealer that shows prices. http://www.gorv.com/diamonfusion

we just edited a commercial at work for the same type of window coating. It was being used by a vinyl window company because its way easier to clean and better at insulating. They were callin it gorilla glass. cool to see its made its way to the auto market
