Hi,
just bought a XB a few months ago and am thinking about changing the suspeension. I have been reviewing Tien and HKS. My concern is the stiffness. I want to make sure the ride is as comfortable as possible without it being really stiff. What do you recommend?

 

If I had to guess the Tein Basics would be most comfortable. I'd think the Hks are stiffer.

 

i heard with the basic you don't have the option of adjusting the stiffness, but with the street sport you do.

 

I would look into the Progress coilovers. You can get a 4" drop out of them. From whay I have been told by people who actually have them is around 2.75 to 3" drop it rides pretty good. You aren't gonna have a race winning suspension but doesn't quite sound like you are looking for that. Partsshipper is running a deal with them right now for around 650.00. I just recently installed Tein H-tech springs because of their spring rate and have been pleased.

I would also check w/ K-power (I believe) and/or Ground Control. I believe ground control will still allow custom spring rates to be ordered.

You are going to be looking at the Tein SS's if you want more adjustability and I want to mention my Tein H spring w/ the monroe rear shocks have been great for the price.

ksports ride like utter garbage. but they are THE BEST handling coilovers available.

 

true... but you can be like me and order a set of ksport gpro's and get a softer springrate from the factory... u just gotta ask

 

Hate all you want. In stock form you know I speak the truth. And I know that it can be difficult to get K Sport to offer their coil overs in really soft "street" spring rates.

And for the record I do plan on running a set of custom K sport coil overs if I get my own xB. You will never see a set on the wife's xB though.

 

yeah maybe i should have asked for a softer setup and sometimes ireally wish i did but oh well. my kidneys aint bashed up too bad yet.

 

hehe yeah, it just takes a couple extra weeks for the distributor to send the coils to ksport, for them to change the rates, and the springs, and to send them back overseas....

ksports are the shiz... and match my hot lava..

 

im also looking at coilovers for my xb...

if the ksports are the best for handling is this also going to help support the box...i have a lip kit and with the df210s i have now im low and do sometimes run and want to try to reduce that as much as possible..

 

Get Tein SS coilovers. You get the best of both street performance(not track but you could) and comfort. Plus the pillow ball mounts and you can use the electronic dampening adjuster from the drivers seat.

 

how much are they though... sometimes the price makes us lean..

 

yeah the tein ss is probably the best bet but they are like 1200
