Default 205/55R/15 for Xb's stock alloy wheels

Has anyone actually installed this size tires on Xb's stock 15" x 6" alloy wheels? Any problem of rubbing and hitting struts? The tire is 20mm wider than stock 185/60R/15, which means inside wall of tire is 10mm closer to struts, correct? Overall diameter is pretty close, 23.7"(stock) and 23.9".

How about anyone with 195/60R/15 tires on the same wheels? Are they too tall?

Please let us hear your experience.

Thanks.

I've run 205/50/15 with no rubbing at all. That width will fit the stock rim fine.

I was running 195 65 15 all seasons. That combo does rub on the plastic (where non-existant mudguards would be) .. but only on full lock.

I'm now running 185/70/14 winter tires ... they do not rub on full lock.

You won't be that off with 195/60-15. Only by 2%. If you go with 195/55-15 you'll be closer to stock than 195/60-15. Was there a certain brand you were looking at? I plan on doing an experiment in efficiency and getting a set of Sumitomo HTR 200 and the best size is 195/60-15. Not the stickiest tire but should be much better than the shoes I inherited from the previous owner...he had 3 different tire brands on it!

Running 205/55-15s with most brand tires you shouldn't have a problem from what I've read in other postings. Many Falkens, for example, tend to run wider tread than other brands. A 205 Azenis tire will be more like a 225 compared to other brands as far as tread width is concerned. So you may have to roll the fender depending on the brand.

See this link for example

Falken ZE512 19560-15.

$328.00 mounted balanced and out the door. Sears.

I probably could have found them cheaper online, but one stop shopping, and it's done.
