Default XB Help

Just purchased a XB about 1 1/2 months ago then found out the wife is pregnant. She loves to sit and the car while i drive but doesnt like the way it feels on the freeway when going over bumps and fixtures on the road. makes her sick. also with the new baby coming i dont think the vibrations will make the baby comfortable. My XB is stock so no mods, but i need to know what can i do or what i can add to make the XB a much smoother ride. Shocks? Springs? Struts? Tires and Rims? let me know what you guys can think of. Also where i can go to get it installed and who i need to call. Price doesnt matter because anyone who has kids knows their kids are worth it but nothing to outrageous either. I live in Long Beach.

All the help would be appreciated

springs and or shocks/struts will probably make the ride a little bouncier. I have spy springs on my wifes xB. It rode nice on stock tires, but on 18's is pretty rough. Your best bet would be thicker tires.

I don't know if its just me, but when I change my springs to Tien s-tech, my ride is more smoother than stock. you might also want to deflate some air on the tire, or how about getting some 14" steelies then 65-70 profile tires.

Lowering with certain springs will definitely improve the ride. I've been in an xb with Goldline springs, which give a 2" drop, and it was a LOT smoother.

I've heard that Tein S-Tech springs also give a smoother ride, while lowering only 1-1.5".

The new springs would run about $150-$200, and installation can be found for $50. Exchanging springs on an xA/xB is easier than any car in history...Shouldn't take but 30-45 minutes.

Good luck with the new baby!

i decided to go with tien springs H-tech for her XB. i spoke to eric at street image and he said it is a better ride and since its for my preg wife to go with h-tech since she has passengers all the time and to stop making her sick while driving.

What do you guys think? Is this a good buy that i will make for her car?

Sounds like a good deal. I think some springs will help with the bounciness. I like mine so much more with the Gold-Lines. Instead of several bounces when hitting a bump like the stock springs, it gives fewer bounces and is quicker to absorb the bounce, if that makes sense. I also notice less of what I call "hobby-horsing" where the cars starts bouncing and genreates more bouncing due to the bouncing, and so on...

Congrats on your new Scion, as well as the coming of your new scion.

You can also go with coilovers. They allow you to adjust the dampening so you can change how the ride is. You can set it to soft for a nice smooth ride or hard if you want to have performance. JIC makes and excellent set, they are pricey though. Looking at around $1150.

I gotta admit, those Teins are the better bang for the buck since it includes the installation.

The Teins will be a better ride for your xB. Since your wife is pregnant, the better choice for suspension will be a set of Tein Springs and keeping the stock shocks.

The spring rating on the Tein springs are soft enough for a comfortable ride but firm enough to where you don't get the bouncing (up and down) effect.

Street Image is the only authorized installation center for bBist in the So Cal region because they are just that good. Great service at the cleanest most well-kept facility available. No matter what it is, they can do it (especially for Scions).

I haven't gotten my Box yet, but did just get my baby.

Trust me, they like bouncing. If she's asleep, for God's sake, don't stop driving.

Good luck on the springs and the baby.

Don't worry about the baby, my 1 year old has yet to complain about the ride.

Last weekend I put on a set of the Tein S springs. It has a more comftorable ride now, not nearly as bouncy. Probably just what your looking for.

imo you could get an alarm, mr scionspeacialties has great deals on them. or since you have a familky he has a great deal on a flip down monitor and dvd player going on right now in the sponsored sales section. and if your going with tein's, if you want a comfy ride with not much of a drop h-techs if you more of a drop s-techs, from what i understand.
