Default Hearing clattering noises after springs installation

Hello SL,
I just recently installed my springs and struts and shocks together. Now everytime I go through a small bump or something, I hear a clattering noise. Thinking it is my exhaust system, its not. SL help me out if you had this problem and tell me how did you fix it. I have Eibach Sportslines with Kyb GR2 struts and shocks. Thanks

I don't know about clattering sounds, but sometimes the rear springs have dead coils that rub together- those will make creaking/squeak sounds when the car goes over bumps, etc.,. Wrap the dead coils with coil wraps(which come with alot of springs) or rubber tape or something.
Check your rear springs to make sure they are seated properly- if not, they will clatter and then fall out the back of your car.
Get out of your car and push the bumpers up and down in the front and back. Check for sounds. If you hear a creaking, it's just dead coils. If you hear something else, or nothing- get your car checked out. Good luck.

Another cause of noise like this is maybe the "keys" on one or both front strut shafts is not aligned with the slot in the strut bushings. Small bumps will make a noise that sounds somewhat like a loose or missing sway bar bushing...a rattlely clatter.

Thanks a lot again. I will look up on that and maybe do the whole thing over and checking things more right. I don't want things to be ruined. Thanks SL

As far as rear spring seating. Evilboxevil says make sure they are seated properly. What this means (and I am sorry if I insult your knowledge Sky) is that the top and bottom of the springs must be rotated so that the ends are all the way into the recess in the mounts that match them. If you look at the spring mount seats, on one or both (I can't remember whether both are indexed on the xB) there will be a slot that the end of the spring sits in, just make sure that the spring is rotated so that the cut end of the spring is all the way to the end of the slot before compressing the spring and installing the shock.
