Default Moving to Wisconsin in a Year

Hey all,

My family is going to be moving to the Eau Claire area (more like Menomonie) in about a year from Seattle.

I'm worried that there won't be much Scion involvement in that area. Hopefully I'm wrong about that, lol. I have sort of looked through this forum but didn't see much WI stuff, other than an SE Wisconsin thread (I'm SE), but then again, I'm not local yet and don't recognize many WI city names and such.

So I guess my question is... what's doin' in that neck of the woods? Thanks!

There’s plenty of Scion action going over here. Just talk to Scott over at Evolution Wisconsin, Dan (The Jonas) also post on here. We’re just not all apart of one club.

Oh no, I'm not looking to just mingle within SE. I don't know if I'll even renew my membership. I know that out here in Seattle, we've got lots of stuff going on and you don't need to be a member of anything to be a part of it.

The only thing is that my husband, 3 boys and I, don't really have the time to just go cruising the state. We've been fortunate where we are to have many SL members in the area so doing going to M&Gs, events and even bungee jumping are close by. So, I guess what I'm saying is that we won't be making the trek to Milwaukee often.

Oh, but I guess we're going to be only 70 miles from Minneapolis. Is that this forum? I'll have to look and if not, ask around in that forum too.

I'm ever so sad to move away from such an active Scion community... I really hope to find another, within reasonable distance!

There is a bigger scion scene in minneapolis than there is in most of wisconsin, especially in the Eau Claire area.
You will be pretty far from the milwaukee and madison area.
Just hope you will like the cold and snow in winter instead of all that rain.
Minneapolis is in the north forum.

Unfortunately you will be pretty far away from a lot of scion stuff. Though the Eau Claire area is very nice. I've been there a few times. It lacks in the scion department. Sadly so does most of wisconsin. We are trying to change that in the Madison and Milwaukee area.
May 12 in Madison we're have a scion event. Check out the SE.org forums.

Thanks kewlbox and tCscotty!

Well, I'm glad we'll be near Minneapolis then. I do like that we'll probably be known as the "goofy looking non-american car family" in Menomonie. Looks as though everyone there drives American cars, lol, and we'll be flawing that up by bringing our two xBs there. When we first get there, we'll have to stay with the in-laws for a month or two. I hope they'll allow us to park in the driveway as they've always joked around that they'd never let a foreign car park there, lol.

Don't forget fish frys, more beer, tractor pulls, and more beer. Wisconsin isn't all bad. It's just not all good either. But then, what state is all good?

Please don't pick on wisconsin. During the weekends 50% of our population are those people from illanoyz. hahaha
Just kidding but we do love things deep fried.

Yes we do. Deep fried twinkies anyone? Cream puffs? You know, that should be a sport, trying to find new things to deep fry. You know Wisconsin would win that one.

From Simpsons:
Moe: Yep, this will deep fry a cow in 30 seconds.
Homer: Ooooh, but I want it now!

Deep fried cheese curds are the BEST! Cheese curds are hard to come by out here and if you do find them, they're crap and don't even squeak.

My husband is excited for not just the cheese curds but for the Leinenkugels, to which him and all his buddies view as the best beer on all earth. I've held back pointing out to them that if it were indeed the best beer on all earth, they'd sell it in more than a handful of states, lol.

I'm partial to New Glaris brews as well. But the seasonal brews of Leinies are great.

Hey Jenna! Hitting up the Midwest huh? Well... if you ever decide to trek down to Chicago, hit us up!
Oh and New Glarus Spotted Cow and Fat Squirrel are really good...
I'm also partial to Three Lakes Cranberry wine. That stuff is really good.

Can't say I have a lot of Liney experience. I'm not big on beer... think Brett Favre cries like a little girl and loath Nascar. I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb, lol.

Burst... I guess we'd probably make it out to Chicago someday. I've only been there a billion times though... just never seem to make it out of O'hare.

Heh. My grandfather is from Sheboygan Falls - and we constantly kid him about it.

Hope your move works out well for you, Jenna. Weather's going to be a little bit more interesting there.
