Scion says the Japanese-designed xD has a "high beltline with powerful front bumpers [that] give it a substantial presence." OK, whatever. What the xD looks like to us is the classic, snub-nose 1916 Mack AC truck that gave rise to Mack's well-known bulldog mascot. Like that ancient truck, the xD looks pugnacious and utilitarian. Though the Scion xD measures out much like the Honda Fit, from its 96.9-inch wheelbase to its 60.0-inch height, the xD seems far less self-conscious. It's also more aggressive than the Nissan Versa, more substantial than the Chevy Aveo, and simply better than the Toyota Yaris.

Very nice, I'm impressed. Still no factory cruise control though. So August is the launch date.. That'll give me plenty of time to save up and add a second car to the family

That 2008 xD Drove very well!
I test drove the one with TRD springs, TRD quickshift and TRD muffler.
It handles great and the acceleration that was impressive.
It was fun to drive around in Hollywood CA.
Thank You Scion!
For this present.
We look forward selling them.

Edmunds
The rear hatch opens remotely with an electric switch. The remote locking function is integrated into the xD's ignition key.

I noticed the crusie control stalk:

Do any of you guys know if the dealers will have the LSD this fall? I read that it was one of the TRD parts. If so does anyone know what installing this entails? Correct me if I'm wrong but you have to disengage the transmission and take off the clutch. Right or wrong? It does some labor intensive and probably will be to much $$ at the dealer but would'nt it be sweet to have.

I was told quite the opposite. Since the pre-pro model had cruise, I assumed that they were going to get it. Then we got those fold-open mini-brochures that said it wasn't offered. I assumed it was a misprint, so I investigated further. I found out that Toyota pulled the Cruise to keep costs down, which is why the first official info said it wasn't available.

I hope I'm wrong. The couple hundred bucks extra or so would be well worth it to 90%+ of Scion customers.

It will have cruise standard. It has not been released in any of the print about the car, but two very "high up corporate people" (national field operations manager) were at a Scion roundtable meeting with our region in AZ recently, and we were assured it would be there. Sounds like they did pull it, and then got all kinds of feedback from people that it needs to be there...

My manager was at that meeting as well and he told me that they will not come with cruise standard, but rather that they built the vehicles so that if cruise was needed it could be added easily and quickly.

I still think it looks horrible on the outside. It would probably look better on some nice wheels and a little lower, plus an aftermarket grille. The interior is really nice looking though. I wonder how the gas mileage is going to be?

Not the same meeting...the one I attended was only the Portland Region Dealers.

It was Jeff Buchanan, the National Field Operations Manager, that told us they would have cruise. We very specifically asked this question, and he didn't hesitate with his reply. I guess he could be wrong, but he seemed very sure of this...

Kathleen Kishi-Phillips was also in this meeting. She runs Marketing for Scion, and she did not correct him at all...
