Default LED Swap (Door Panel Switches)

Tools Needed:
Soldering Iron
Tweesers
Philips head screw driver
Small Flat Head Screw Driver

Supplies Needed:
Thin Solder I used ".015 dia. 62/36/2" From Radio Shack
Extra LED's from your Gauge Color Change Project
(https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...asc&highlight=)

First start off be removing the door panel via https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...asc&highlight=

Passenger Side:

As soon as you get the panel off flip the door over, there is 4 clips that hold the control panel. Two were my fingers are and two behind on the other side. Press them in and pop out the control panel.

Control panel removed.

Now you need to press back these clips holding the switches.

Removing switch

Once Again!

Press back these clips holding the switches.

Removing switch

Remove these screws

Flip board around to expose this LED

New LED's are a bit bigger but everything works fine

Press these clips in to gain access to the window switches LED(S) by using a small flat head screw driver

Exposed LED

Once again the new LED's are a bit bigger but everything works fine

Driver Side:

Remove these screws 2 In back 1 in front

Once again press in thhe clips

To expose the LED'S

I desoldered the old LED's and removed them with tweesers. Use Tweesers to solder the LED's back in. If they don't light up check your soldering if it is fine flip the LED around.

After:

After your done your Control Panel will flash telling you that you need to reset them. Go to the driver Side Panel roll the window halfway down stop and then roll it all the way up holding the button up for 3 seconds. Do the same for the other side. And your done!

Hey i did mine in Blue and look great but i have a slight problem!!!
My passenger side window led stays on constantly now...even with the keys out of the ignition!! Not sure if this is happening to you or not. Not really a big deal since it draws very little power but just weird...any ideas why!!??

Also one step you left out that drove me nuts until i figured it out....... when you put everything back you driver side window led will flash letting you know that you need to reset the windows. Go half way down with the window and the go up and hold for a couple of seconds and then your one touch will be back and flashing will go away. Do the same for the passenger side!!

Looks AWESOME by the way...thanks again for the write up

Fsu1dolfan,

Mine don't stay on they go off with the car when I open the driver door. As for the reset I figured people would realize being you had to disconnect the controls but your right I will put it in.

My stock ones stay on even when the key is out of the ignition. Thought it is supposed to be this way.
Nice DIY. Are your dash led's red too?

Can you specify which ones you used? That site has alot of stuff! Does this resolve the voltage issue that was a concern on the color changing thread?

Thanks!

tsk tsk tsk.. I finally have summond the guts to do LED swaps.. I'm gonna have my brother here walking me through everythin, because this will be my first time on somethin like this

If I am successfull I'll post pics on a new thread.. if I fail, I'll be looking to buy more..

Is it possible to fry anything when you do this? if so how clumsy would one have to be to screw it up?
