Looking into getting some Enkei EBX rims and painting them bronze, I'm having a friend photoshop them onto an IIP tC so I can make sure they'll look good. Would it be much easier if I paint them before I have the tires mounted on the rims, or would it not make much of a difference? I would think it would be easier because I wouldn't have to cover up the tires and avoid spraying them.

Since I don't want to a) start a new thread to ask this, or b) read every post on the previous 7 pages:
Can anyone report in on how durable their OWN painted rims have proven to be? Have you had any problems with easy chipping/flaking/scratching? Any need to re-paint often/at all?
Thanks for the info! This should help me decide if black wheels will be a $25 job (paint) or a $800 job (new wheels)...

mine have been fine for a while now. just make sure you clean the wheel really well before painting so the paint sticks. it also helps to primer first. mine have been painted for like 2 months now gold. and before that i had them for like 2 months bronze. never had any chipping problems. as far as my experience goes, as long as you do a good job the first time, you won't need to repaint them
Awesome, thanks for the input Andino! If the paint is good and doesn't chip, I'd much rather go that route than get new wheels. Plus, I like the overall design of the stock wheels, so I'd feel sort of dumb shelling out big bucks for a wheel that looks almost the same, only black.
Thanks, again,

man i was the same as you just this weekend, scared as crap, the best thing to do is follow what he says and they come out great. I used the Dupli-Color paint and even though it rained 2 days after its still all looking good, i didn't prime or clearcloat cause i wanted to keep that flat black look. The worst part is sanding but once you start there is no turning back. It's a easy diy just make sure you have the time...go for it!!!
i went with the flat black so i didn't use clear coat on mine, didn't really have a need for it and they are holding up great, but i've heard mixed reactions on the duplicolor clearcoat but if you go to autozone or advance the people there will really help you out...so just do some research and see what people think.
