Some people wanted a DIY on the DME's ETD, and well, i had a bit of free time, so here is my best shot at doing my frist diy.
Tools:

ratchet with deep socket 11/16(17mm) and 9/16(14mm)
17mm wrench
4 or 6" ratchet extension
10mm wrench(optional)
then the steps
first, the first step is optional. it just made my process a hell of a lot easier. take off the plastic engine cover and the pink coolant container using 10mm for both.


then, take off the 2 nuts on the inner part of the strut tower, and if you have a strut bar, you'll have to go to the other side and take the whole strut bar off.

then, take the nut and bolt off of the engine, both are 14 mm or 9/16, but you'll have to use an extension on the ratchet.

then, assemble the bolt that came with the damper on the engine bracket like this, and replace the bolt that came off of the engine.

tighten both bolts/nuts.

install the strut bracket and tighten both nuts.
if you have a strut bar, you'll probably be have to put washers on the driver's side struts, to compensate for the height of the bracket on the passenger's side.

then, this is how i set up my engine torque damper, and retighten everything, but make sure the ETD will reach both brackets.

tighten using a 17mm , or 11/16 wrench and a ratchet, or 11/16


reinstall everything else that you took off
annnnnnd you're done


it wasn't the best pictures, but it was a try. if there are any confusions or any wrong info, please let me know.

yeah, and did you notice any vibrations while under load or was there less. I'm curious how the car "feels" now

Good writeup... Do these actually help wheel hop, does it rattle your teeth?

thanx. the etd really does help my wheel hops, and my shifts are a lot smoother now. theres a lot less jerks going on. i hear the engine a bit more, but nothing that i can't handle. it actually doesn't add much rattling, just a little bit more movement, since the engine's now connected to the chassis. and also, i put in the softer bushing, the black ones, instead of the red ones, so that probably helped.

so the black bushings are softer thus absorbing more vibrations?

haha yeah, it'll only take less than an hour to do. even my lazy butt was able to do it.

thanks. yeah, the damper comes in the package with red bushings in it, which are a bit harder, so it's the "race" setting. it allows less play in the engine, but also causes a bit more vibration. the black ones are a bit softer, so it's more for the daily driver.

So pretty much you just get a little more engine noise as far as the "negative effects" go?

thanks, and actually, the engine noise is actually a positive thing. i like it. it's just theres some random rattles and vibrations that come here and there, and that's what i would probably call the 'negative effect'.
