Default Strut Brace Install (Rear, Ingalls)

Tools Needed:
Socket Set (Metric)
Power Drill (Must be big enough for a 7/16th bit)
Torque Wrench
7/16th Drill Bit

Optional:
Car Jack (Depending how big your drill is)

First things first

Open your box and remove your tower brace

Aswell as your Install Kit

Next remove your trunks interior (Mine has been gutted for a while now, but to remove simply turn the two ***** on the top of the trunk cover and remove it. Next remove the storage cubby foam from the trunk (They are held in by small clips, I think there is two clips per cubby. Save them for latter use

Next remove the two nearest bolts on each shock tower. They are 14mm.

Next place your tower brace in to get a rough fit. You will notice the end legs (Red Circle) Line up with white plastic clips. You’re going to need to drill those clips out to 7/16th's. There is one on each side.

But wait! There is a catch! The driver side location has a bolt right in the way.

You will need to get under the car on the driver side and remove the 1st bolt (One closest to the front of the car) And drill the threads out to make a 7/16th's hole. (Depending on how big your drill is you may want to jack the car up a few clicks so you have more room to work.

Now place your spacers over your freshly drilled out holes and place the tower brace over them. Finish it off with a washer and the bolt.
(Correction!! Rob has told me to put the spacer on the underside of the car, You should have less fitment issues with the storage cubbys.
So it would go bolt > washer > brace > car > big spacer > washer > nut.

The bolt should clear the chassis and come out of the other side. If it doesn’t check your hole to make sure its big enough. Or take the bolt out and retry. Place your supplied 14mm nut and washer on this bolt and tighten down (You may want to grab a buddy of yours to hold the bolt in place while you tighten down the nut. You will need a 17mm for the Bolt and a 14mm for the nut.

Replace tower bolts and tighten down well.

Vwala! All Done!

Review:
The Install took about an hour to do. It required hand tools and a little know how. The brace itself is a great quality piece. It has a tough grey wrinkle finish for durabitly. The welds are solid and clean. The bars are "Beefy" but yet not over done or heavy. I did a "bend test" and these baby’s are solid!!!. Check out this picture Rob sent me!

(Insert photo here)

What I really like about these is the fact it uses 4 mounting spots instead of two. And How you still have space for your spare tire!. A short test ride resulted in a noticeable difference in the corners the back end felt a little more "solid" then usual. I felt less vibrations from the trunk area (Even with it gutted) I will run some more tests to see how it performs may have to hit the course up pretty soon

Great product from a Great company!

Some people are concerned about not being able to use their storage cubby's again. There are a few things you can do.

One (If your like me) Say the hell with it and leave them out.
Two you can zip-tie the jack or anything else needed to the bar itself
Three trim the cubby so that they fit with the bar
Four go to an audio shop and have them trim the cubby

I personally said the hell with it just like I said to hell with the front bumper lol

Special thanks to Rob @ http://www.ingallseng.com for his help with this review!

Updated Day Two: I was driving on the highway today and heard a slight "squeeking" noise from the rear trunk area. I thought maybe a bolt had came loose. I check the bolts and they were all tight. Im going to keep an eye out on this to see... Other then that the car rides great very stiff as I said before.

To the retailers we know you want to sell these but we do these reviews to promote a certain product. Not a certain retailer. Please do not post direct links to products on your site in these types of posts. You can explain that you offer these product etc. But do not post direct links, leave those for your retailer posts! Thank You!

A good way to complete the bins back to a full bottom is to fiberglass a bottom on the inside.

Anyone intrested in this let me know. Done it for a couple people so far.

yes... i know that (sway bar). i mean it would take the place of the MMW Rear strut bar or the GReddy one. my question was... if installing this rear tower brace, the rear strut bar would not be needed any more?

The jack is flipped. That is the best way it would fit. You have to cut the panel a little bit as you can see in my second to last pic. You will still have to put something on the strut bar so the jack will not vibrate against it. This way the cover will still fit.
