We also get a lot of the "cheap sneakers" people too.

I honestly don't think they're ALL bots though.

Er, we HAVE Captcha installed here at ScionLife.com - have since the move to the new software.

Whatever it is getting in here can easily get past Captcha, though.

I think even I've stomped about 50 or 60 of 'em.

We have Captcha?

Where?

I've never encountered it.

You would only see it if you tried to register as a new member since we moved to the new software...

yeah.. much smarter spam bots will get in regardless of a captcha.

i usually kill about 2-3 daily.. and yea.. it's the same crap... spam bots have been getting much smarter over the years..

and the biggest thing and the reason why we've had more attacked lately.. is probably due to the the fact we changed to vbulletin..

custom coded forums are always much more difficult i'd say for spam bots to get around.. since most of them are written to be able to get thru certain pre-written code... such as.. well.. vbulletin.

there's always more spam bot preventing stuff out there... but regardless of how much effort one can place.. there's still gonna be a bot smart enough to get thru... if not now.. eventually in the future.

I've noticed something weird about the spam bots for that converter software.... the screenshots always look different. Like, it has to be the same software every time, but how many different versions/looks of it do they have?

I have seen some repetitions, but most ARE different. This is obviously a large, complex, well designed spamming effort from an amazing variety of IPs. Probably a botnet.
