i'm looking for a song you guys might know. It was from the movie "Crank", to help you reference. They only play it on the part where Chev goes into the kitchen with the butcher knife and cuts off verona's brothers' hand. The song that is playing at that time is the one that i want, but i don't know the name.

Sorry for such a long post - this one took me back!!!

Metallica was selling out everywhere since the early 80's...without radio play, but they weren't HUGE yet to the mainstream music fans.

As for 80's punk, I'm all about it...unlike much of what is considered punk today(though there are a few really good bands now).

they weren't HUGE yet to AMERICAN mainstream music fans, but you probably didn't know they were the number 2 band (ticket sales) in the world behind michael jackson for the longest time. same as U2, super huge everywhere besides america and england.

there aren't any. only good punk bands are/were ramones, sex pistols, misfits and nofx.

While I'd admit that there are no punk bands that are good nowadays - it's all pop-punk, though music tastes are relative, and this is just my own personal opinion - there are tons more great punk groups out there...

Here are some of my own preferences as 80's staple punk:

Bad Brains - reggae-punk
Minor Threat
Wire
The Clash - seriously, you can't forget The Clash!!!
DOA
(Charged) GBH
New York Dolls - more proto-punk but great nonetheless
Dead Kennedys - another classic punk band that can't be neglected
Black Flag - before Henry Rolllins sold out
Circle Jerks - singer for Black Flag before Rollins
Dead Boys
DRI
Adolescents
Angry Samoans
Descendants
All
Naked Raygun
The Damned
The Buzzcocks
The Exploited
Social Distortion
Husker Du
Bad Religion
7 Seconds
Operation Ivy - ska-punk...more 90's than 80s
Agnostic Front
Murphy's Law - ska/punk - non-hate-edge skinhead
TSOL
Stiff Little Fingers

I honestly can't say that the Sex Pistols were a "good band", being that most of their albums were re-hashes of the same song set with some other sangs added here - hence "The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle"!! But I did listen to them growing up, so yeah, they'd go on the list, too - and the Misfits, Ramones, and NOFX (they've been around FOREVER!!)
