Ticket grrr!
Ok, i just got a "careless driving" ticket like an hour ago. And I am seriosuly peeved about this. I was pulling out of my school onto rt. 93 and took the turn a little to fast, so i went about a tire over the shoulder white line. The cop wrote on the ticket that I operated the vehicle with disregard for safety of persons and property. Which I did not. I think the PA cop saw a NJ locense plate and saw dollar signs.
I have a clean record, never had a ticket or citation for anything. This ticket is complete bull, they guy did not even stay long enough for me to explain anything. He gave me the ticket and drove off. The way out of my school is a masive hill, about 100ft elevation difference that than rt 93.
My question is does anyone know if a ticket in PA for someone in NJ takes points? Should I appeal this and take it to court? is it worth it?
I dont want points on my record, this ticket is bogus, i feel if i take this to court the judge wont believe me, he will side with the cop.

I've been issued like 9 tickets... (long story) all were bogus... so I contested them, and the cops either never showed up, or the tickets got thrown out.
Either way... I won.
(still clean driving record!)

i think im gonna fight it
does anyone know what the "vehicle registration number" is? it says "Veh. Reg. No"
is it my plate number?
and someone told me that in PA, all cops have to wear their hats, which means they are in full uniform

you'll have to check with your state and local laws, some states don't accept points from other states, some states have aggreements with other states, and some states apply the points that they would assign if the violation had taken place in their state.
if you can, take it to court, sounds pretty bogus.

never knew it was illegal to cross the white line either.. your talking the fog line right??after you made your turn you oversteered and went kinda close to the curb past the fog line?

the guy said i had 3/4 of the car over the line and was about to hit the gaurdrail and flip over
i know this is bogus because i am always vigilant of that, and my passenger told me that i was at the most, 6 inches over the white line, at that was a stretch

I don't know where everyone got the idea that if you go to court, the ticket will get thrown out. This is not true.
If you go to court, you have a chance of it getting thrown out. And just because you went to court and paid the ticket does not mean that you will not get any points on your record. This is really dependant on the state and the court. The judge has total control (regardless if the cop shows up or not), so you had better hope that he/she is in a good mood on that day.
But the ticket does sound bogus, so it's very likely that the judge will see it your way and let this one slide... especially with a clean record. But don't get your hopes up too because as far as I am concerned, PA and VA are the two worst states when it comes to tickets. I have never heard any stories with a good out come when it comes to tickets in those states. But, of course, I have not talked to everyone about this, so I am sure there are some. I have just never heard any.
Also, you Veh. Reg. Num should be found on your registration. You should always keep that in your car, along with your proof of insurance.

marlon take it to court....but pa cops are dicks. i know i lived there for 24 yrs and my ***** were always busted by them.
if u take it to court and u still lose, which i hope u win, but if u were to lose if there are points involved it will hit your driving record. any infractions like that in the state of pa will affect your nj driving record. kristine got pulled over on 78 a few yrs back and got 2 points for speeding and it showed up on her nj record. if u had a pa license and got pulled over and points issued in nj, it would not have an affect on your pa record. i know that one to cuz i got a careless driving ticket in nj and still have my pa license.
but like i said above, fight it. pa cops are REALLY good about showing up on the court date, but u will be able to work something out i am sure.

But some states do things differently and burst may be right. Check both to make sure you have the right one. If there is no number on the registration, then it is prolly the VIN.
well i think i am going to fight it, the more and more i thin about it, the more i feel that it was out of state profiling. It wasnt even the end of the month so i dont know why he did this. And i found out that in PA cops have to wear their hats, which means they are in full uniform, neither cop that was in the car had their hat on.
