Default Study says xB more energy efficient than Hybrid

A study recently showed that a Scion xB is the most energy efficient vehicle out there.

Alright, well let me introduce myself i'm Nate! Just picked up my xB last saturday and I love it, heh. So ghyeaaa

I've read something similar to this the factor in the cost of production, i.e. the "energy" it takes to manufacture the vehicle and then the life (mileage) expectancy given by the manufacture. Here is a link that talks about how the prius is in a sense "worse" than the hummer to the environment. http://www.autobloggreen.com/2006/10...eener-a-prius/

I just did a google search of it real quick I'm sure there is better more substatianted articles, but it goes to talk about the factories where toyota buys the nickel for the batteries and how those factories are create a lot of pollution.

I don't believe the report. I think the xA is more efficient than the xB. Especially since they come from the same assembly line, and the xA get slightly better mpg. Yet the study shows a significant difference between the two. They base that the xB is better than the xA because of the demographics of the people that drive them. That's alot of assuming! In fact at the beginning of the report they state that's it's a non-technical report. So it's good toilet reading and that's about it IMHO.

This wouldn't be the same junk science study that reported the Tahoe was more "efficient" than the Prius, was it? I think I'd file this under "Don't Believe Everything You Read." This is about as accurate as the study that determined the xB was the WORST car for made-up "plastic seepage" particles.

It's nice to be number one, but this study attempted to quantify the costs of building production plants, projected vehicle life, and other insanely vague concepts. Hybrids scored artificially low because they use such new technology that's requiring new plants for manufacture, and because of a ridiculously low estimation of vehicle life.

Frankly, it basically seems like the entire study was structured around making the Prius look bad. Personally, I think that talking to a Prius OWNER for more than 10 minutes will accomplish the same thing with a whole lot less work. ;)

It's totally bullsh*t, in other words. This IS the Internet, man.
