Default Wood steering wheel with airbag, interested?

I'm thinking about making a couple of these, and I want to see if there would be any interest. They will be just like the the stock ones, but wood, and you will keep your airbag. A simple pop off pop on deal. Let me know.

No pics as this is a feeler thread, and yes cost will be serious. I'm not making these to feed my family so if I make one for my car, and one to sell it will more than likely be $300. Yes, it will be worth it.

Thanks man, if it all goes well, I'll sell one. Here's the idea, and if you search ebay you will see them for upwards of $900 for other vehicles. This will not be a cap, or cover, or any other "cheap mod". It will be finely finished wood made specificly for the Scion. Hopefully it will be a Burl piece.

how would you do it? would you cut down the plastic on a section of stock steering wheel, glue the wood around the metal and carve it down?

Still figuring out how I want to approach it. It may not happen. I'm just trying to see if it would be worthwhile to make two instead of just mine.

I could see how to do it without using real wood, but real would be a pain.

It might make sense to take a stock wheel, build up the plastic about 1/4", and send it to patterntek for burlwood dipping. once you get it back, you'd wrap the spoke sections in leather, and you're good to go.

Perhaps, but it is'nt real, and after seeing your ride; I expect strict quality standards. That's a compliment.
