Heres the hell Ive been through with my tC's wheels and tires lately....

Friday May 4, took my car in for 30k service. When I picked the car up I found that the tires were still out of balance.

Monday May 7, brought it back to the dealer to have them rebalanced. When I picked the car up they pointed out that my State Inspection was due.

Tuesday May 8, took the car to get inspected. Was told that it would fail due to work tires. Sure enough, all 4 tires had the wear bars showing. Raised hell with the dealership that they missed this when they twice has the wheels off to balance them.

Wednesday May 9, had the tires replaced with a set I had off the stock rims. Picked the car up that evening only to find the delaer had severely scraped my rims with the tire mounting machine, gashing the polished lip the whole way around. They told me they would have the wheels sent out the following Monday to have this fixed.

Monday May 14, dropped the car off for two days while the wheels were being refinished.

Tuesday May 15, picked the car up only to find the wheels were out of balance again. Parked the car that night as I had to go to NYC for a couple of days.

Friday May 18, had a CRITICAL meeting that morning, had to leave very early. Go out to my car, in the pouring rain, only to find a flat tire. Stole my girlfriends car and went to my meeting. That afternoon, took the tire and wheel off the car and went to the local shop to hopefully have it plugged. The shop brought the tire back out to me and showed me the cause of the flat....SEVERE damage to the bead of the tire from a hack job mounting them. I called the dealer and they told me to go ahead and replace the tire and they would reimburse me.

Saturday May 19, After ordering the tire and going back to get it put on, the shop told me it was delayed and they wouldnt have it till Monday. I asked them to check the other 3 tires. Sure enough, they found damage to two of the other three. I called the dealer again and they asked me to bring the car in to have them replace the tires. On my way down there I was able to take a closer look at the "refinished" rim that was off the car.... What a mess!! This rim was spotted with mismatched filler material, the clearcoat was already bubbling and peeling, and there were still serious scrapes on the inside edge of the lip.

Now it is Thursday and the dealer still has my car. They are supposedly having the rims redone, correctly this time, and replacing all 4 tires with Yokohama Advan's at my request. Its been one issue after another and if its not fixed this time I dont know what I will do next!!

 

I gotta say, that sucks, after all that I probably wouldnt goto that dealer again! I myself will never goto my local dealer any more due to what they did, and instead drive about an hour to get to the only dealer / mechanic I trust.

 

holy crap. and i thought i had problems! sorry to hear about your mess. they better do some major kissing up to keep you as a customer. hunt down the customer relations manager of that dealer and raise some hell.

i myself brought mine in on saturday for 30k as well, only to get it back with a dent on the rear passenger quarter panel. ____ed as heck. dropped it back off on monday and have had a loaner since. can't get anyone to call me back with an estimate of how much longer it will take. dealers suck. i do have the loaner, so i'm not complaining too much....

 

Update..... Its now Friday night and i STILL dont have my car back!!!

 

you should post this in the Northeast forum, which dealer did you go to? Since you are in Quincy, I sure hope you didn't go to expressway...

 

No, I dont trust Expressway at all, shady as all hell!!

I prefer to not throw my dealer under the bus as they really did a good job with the final attempt. The car looks great, they gave me a refund check for the entire 30k service charge. And they are talking about potentially sponsoring my car if i want to enter it in some shows in the near future.....

 

What tires did you have on there?? Kevin is just over 30 K miles too and needs new tires. I am at 22 and I believe my Bridgestones are fine...

Getting new tires sucks! I told Kevin to look into the Toyo Proxes 4 cause people on here seem to like them and they are half the price of his Yoko's.

I am tempted to order tires now while I have the money so that in 8,000 miles I can just replace them without scraping for cash..

 

I had the Falken Ziex 512, they were decent tires but low mileage. Since you dont drive HARD as compared to some, you may want to consider these

They have an 80k treadlife warranty so you wont be replacing them anytime soon.
I am now running the OEM Yoko's as thats what the dealer opted to replace mine with for free....cant beat that price!! My next tires will likely be either Conti's, Proxes 4, or Dunlop A4's
