scioninla 12-19-2003, 01:27 AM Cool..I am glad that they are gonna hook you up..keep us posted or let me know during the meets....
deathcabforme 12-19-2003, 03:34 AM sounds like the shop is top secret or area 51..hmmm..
Red_Genie_xB 12-19-2003, 05:51 AM Top Secret will probably not gonna work on xBs
Its the Supras and Skyline worth them to produce that 1000+ horse power
Area 51? They still around? I heard they closed down... BTW, I heard nothing good about them... so I will not use their turbo kit if they are still in bus.
Sounds more like XS Engineering to me, if the kit is XS kit, then you gotta have it
I'll check if they are working on xB turbo kit for you guys since I know people there
ToyTuners 12-19-2003, 05:54 AM XS or SP Engineering both very reputable shops.

Wraith 12-19-2003, 02:56 PM sounds like the shop is top secret or area 51..hmmm..
I thought Area 51 is closed its doors earlir this year, the owner of Area 51 is also the owner of Ebay and Paypal. Supposedly shut it down because it was a money pit... And I thought Top Secret is only in Japan ...
Wraith 12-19-2003, 02:57 PM XS or SP Engineering both very reputable shops.
In my humble opinoin... XS's tunning leave much less to be desired. While SP engineering good work but idiots when it comes to building engines and tunning sucks balls... And both shops charge a pretty penny...
scionara 12-19-2003, 03:46 PM Since we're in the guessing game, my guess would be RevHard... but wait, I don't think they have exotic cars under their wings plus they're the one that's doing the Element turbo... scratch my guess....
scionmag 12-19-2003, 04:17 PM I can't find it on the web but I know that in San Mateo we have an Area51 on el camino in San Mateo CA...
SGVside 12-21-2003, 10:28 PM yeah... area 51 sucks. blew my friends motor with a prototype supercharger for the GS300. They also blew an IS300 motor while doing a prototype. Yeah i also head that the owner of Area 51 has some sort of a relationship with ebay. I heard two rumors about the irvine shop. 1) they were selling stolen motors. 2) the owner had a divorce and needed to sell the shop. so i dunno.
rampagesd 12-21-2003, 10:43 PM if anyone has any info on area 51 being open let me know. them guys owe me $1200 for a body kit i paid in full and never got. it's owned by a guy named dave adams and he's an accountant for e-bay
SPFRBOX 12-22-2003, 02:03 AM THE GUY THAT OWNES AREA 51 ALSO OWNES E-BAY.. HE LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALI
squirrel 12-22-2003, 02:40 AM GReddy has already announced part numbers for the turbo AND intercooler for the xB. if anyone is interested, i can call my buddy to get them.

i have some friends in showcase and some of the members got their cars impounded at a show in del mar because the swaps were done at area51 and they were reported to be stolen motors. i never really checked up to see what happened in the end.
its_ikon 12-23-2003, 12:23 AM maybe the company is stafford fabrications

Really??? And whom are you to go and say that? Please, feel free to let me know what your problem is with our shop, SP Engineering.
Thanks,

Torokun 12-23-2003, 02:14 AM I'm tired of waiting...
I can't help but to think that all these companies are waiting for the national launch of the Scion... instead of CA only...
So depending on how the sales goes nationally, they would start pumping out the products.... make sense from marketing/business perspective...
Frustrates the heck out of us CA Scion owners!!!
Oh well... I wasn't planninng on doing any mod until my warrnaty runs out anyway....
tinybigrig 12-23-2003, 03:05 AM were gonna start right after the holidays and hope to have everything done asap...just have to wait till then, damn! but i will have pics as soon as anything happens

Yup, SF did one heck of a nice job on Nick's Matrix! I just wish my XR was a 5 speed also!
CBSIMONSEZ 12-25-2003, 10:58 AM I heard all the way out here, it was Sears!
Its gonna be a Craftsman 2000 turbo set up, orignally for the riding lawn mowers, but with little modification, will fit the Scion line.
PushyTop 12-27-2003, 12:30 AM I can't help but think that adding a turbo to an engine and transmission/drivetrain that wasn't engineered and built to handle the extra power is anything but a bad idea. The car couldn't possibly handle the added stress of the power and maintain reliability. I'd like an extra 20 ft-lbs or so of torque, as well, but wouldn't these changes to the drivetrain void a warranty?

Certainly it would void the drivetrain warranty, unless it was made by TRD.
As far as breaking stuff, the torque passing through the drivetrain is limited by the traction of the tires. You would probably increase wear by using the turbo torque all the time, but unless you caused detonation or some other functional problem with the engine you probably wouldn't break anything outright.
Abuse anything, even with a stock engine and it'll break.

dulcimoo 12-28-2003, 04:28 PM A turbo kit from a lawn mower in a car? Sounds kinda weard to me!
