Default Bolt on exhaust: GOOD or BAD?

I'm sick of looking at my Camry exhaust and I'm sick of kicking my Camry clutch!

Well I know I should go Competition Stage-4 clutch or something like that.

But, is a bolt-on exhaust a good idea if I'm going to turbo the tC later by the end of the year?

Also, are 07 tCs built for future turbo installs?

dude. do you have any idea what you are doing with your car?? you gotta search sometimes man. YES you deffinetly need an exaust with a turbo. i respect the fact that you aren't afraid to ask about something that you dont know. but ALL of your posts in the f.i. section so far could have been answered with a search.

You mean I can go 2.25" with turbo? Is it standard to go with 2.5 when I'm turbo?

Also, If I get a custom 2.5, will I get less low end torque when I do it?

You need to tell us what your power goals are. 2.5 is the norm under 350WHP, anything more and you will want to upgrade to 3 inch

forpinks, it appears you need to focus a little bit. Have a few questions for you that will productive for everyone here (including yourself):

1) For what purpose do you want to boost your tC? Street, strip, auto-X, or track? Each of which require turbos with different characteristics and different supporting mods (tires, suspension, driveline, exhaust etc.).

2) What's your budget? Just because you have enough money for a turbo kit, doesn't mean you can actually afford it after supporting mods, installation, and tuning.

3) How long do you plan on keeping your car? Too many people here drop a ton of cash into their tCs only to trade them in after they boost. If you don't plan on keeping the car for a few years, it's best you trade it in now and buy something more powerful; don't throw good money after bad.

I think after you answer those questions, you'll have better idea where you want to go and people here will have a better idea where to lead you. And as always... the SEARCH button is your friend.

Answers:

1. Weekend driver, street and track. (tCs can AutoX?)
2. I can buy a Porsche Cayman now!. (Thanks Real Estate!)
3. It's cashed out the dealer. (Why would I want to sell a "t"oyota "C"elica?)

Will that help? I bought the tC because it's the only Performance new Toyota with a stick I can find... I stick with Toyotas as my private cars!

...dude...seriously...are you even listening at all? if you have all this money and such, you should be able to just drop you car tc off at some garage, and say fill it up to 300 whp and come back in a week ready to smoke tires.

i think the tc is probably the easiest freaking car to boost. even toyota offers a supercharger for it. many of us have explained several times over and over again how to properly turbo your freakin car. now you don't even understand exhaust? it is all PIPES! a bunch of tubes, non-moving metal objects that route engine exhaust gases out of your car.

here is the lowdown, you want to minimize back pressure while maximizing exhaust gas velocity. think muzzle velocity of a gun when firing if that helps.

now just pick out any true performance exhaust made by a quality company. you want something from the s-pipe back, 2.5 inches stainless steel. most of them are bolt-on exhaust. they bolt directely in place of the stock exhaust.

yes, tc's can auto x, anything can auto x. you must have auto x confused with drifting, tc's can't drift. they can only skid around and powerslide with the ebrake.

now then, here is what you do yet again.

pick out a stage 1 turbo kit that will fit an 07 tc with engine managment and larger injectors., get a boost, wideband o2, and egt gauges. one step colder spark plugs, stage 3 clutch, and a new s-pipe and s-pipe back performance exhaust. there are so many fine proven brands for all these parts, if you really have the money you should have ordered them by now. take all these parts, have them installed and tuned. break them in properly, and boost away.

1. Yes, tCs do autoX very well if setup right. However, if you're going to track your car (not drag race), you need to work on suspension and driveline first before you boost. That turbo will be useless if you can't put the power down.

2. That's great, but that doesn't mean you're going to spend $50K on a tC. What is your budget for this project? $3K? $5K? $10K or over? If you have a set budget, you'll be less likely to make mistakes. If you're ballin' that hard, you should build your engine (stronger pistons, rods, headwork, etc.), you want to build a solid foundation before you build the house.

3. Fair enough, but the tC is a FWD car and it has power limitations RWD cars don't. If you're not prepared to commit, the Lexus IS is a better alternative within the Toyota family.

OK, OK!

I'll just mash it all up in the car when I install the turbo!

THANKS!
