Default Larger 16's? (Tires, not wheels)

Assuming that I don't replace my wheels or raise/lower my new xB, what are the largest 16-inch tires I can fit on the 08 xB without any problems?

I have to go uphill and downhill on a few dirt roads all the time and I'm thinking of putting some tires with better traction on the xB.

Okay, since no one is responding, let me ask the question a different way.

Will the following size tires fit on the stock 16-inch steel wheels on the 08 xB:

P245/55ZR16

or

P235/55R16

I want more rubber/tread on the road than what the stock 205's give me. However, I want to make sure that wider tires will still fit on the front and back without any problems.

235/55-16 will fit on a 6.5" rim but will be considerably taller than stock.

A 225/50-16 is an almost identical diameter and is ~1" wider than stock. It will fit on the stock rims with no problem, and it is a popular size so there are plenty available.

Thanks!

Another question, I was speaking to my brother in law last night and when I told him I was going to get new tires he asked if he could buy the stock tires from me for $50 (his car also has 16s).

He asked me what the estimated mileage/lifetime of the stock tires was but I don't have a clue. Does anyone know how many miles the stock tires are rated for?

You can check the side of the tires. If you have the Goodyears mine does I believe it says 260. That is just an index, but I can tell you not to expect more than about 20,000 out of them at best.
