Default best mods for 06 5spd scion

Ok looking to buy 3k worth of part's what should be the first upgrades i read all the post but still confused. I know Intake Exhaust Header are a must but which ones are the best combo when put together. Also is it good to put a lighter pulley on the car without turbo or s/c? I am looking to up h/p before body kits and stuff like that so any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Car will be a 06 scion 5spd

If you have 3,000 to spend... spend it on a turbo kit. Don't waste it on an I/H/E setup.. it will only yield you approximately 15-20hp.. even with an s-pipe, cai and pulley on.. I would know, I have all bolt-on's.

You looking for power or handling? I'd probably do suspension work before the engine, but that's just me.

I was thinking turbo but wasn't sure if the stock engine could handle it without the other mods i could be wrong I know you all know more then I do. But also y suspension? does it give you better handling and control over the car?

It handles OK when it's stock... but a set of springs or coilovers + rear sway bar would help it out quite a bit.

If it were my $3k and I had just bought my car, I'd do a set a coilovers (Progress or Tein maybe?) with a Hotchkis sway bar set... and then probably I/H/E (probably Injen/MonsterMotorWorks/?). Oh, and a short shifter.

I'm fairly practical though... plus, what good is all the power from boosting if you can't put it to the road and use it? That and I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of a turbo or s/c and potential complications - not many have problems though - but I would worry more I think...

Just my opinion though. Just make sure you do a lot of research either way.

what a lot of people dont see is. 3000 can get you an a turbo kit. then you need EMANAGE, TUNE, INJECTORS,CLUTCH, MISC. i mean thats like another 800-1000. yea its def worth it but 3000 will pretty much get you just a turbo kit...expect to spend more always expect.

I agree with you ack154 it is best for me to get them first. I was also looking at the MMW header, and injen exhaust, and for intake i was looking at the weapon r but i herd they are bad in the long run people say that the trd, aem, and also the injen are good as you said the injen you would pick why is that in your opp.
Also on spark plugs what are good and spark plug wires?

No point in changing plugs/wires, really. We already have iridium plugs. I think nology makes a set of wires though - but I don't know what the benefits would really be (if any) and haven't looked into them.

And ya, I actually have the Injen, love it. The AEM is another good choice - though the TRD is really just the AEM in a different color and a higher price tag, so I wouldn't bother with that.

If I had the money, coilovers. If you're short on cash, springs. You'll get by just fine for a while on OEM shocks/struts... but coilovers would be the way to go, IMO.

$3000 for me would equal coilovers, rims, tires, and maybe a hotchkis sway bar set.

if may not be for everyone, but that will outhandle any tC with just a turbo or bolt ons.. which to me is more important than who can get down a straight line faster.

Zpi is selling there stage 0 for 2199. If you can install it yourself that will save money and you can still afford a good clutch and flywheel.

for the stage 0, you don't need a new clutch or flywheel.....the stock ones handle it just fine unless you race constantly everyday.....i would say, get the zpi stage 0 (2200)...do the labor yourself, set aside 300 for a tune, 300 for gauges, and 200 for an emanage....ideally 3400 would be a good budget for that turbo setup, which would cover other materials costs, etc....if you want performance oriented things, i/h/e imo is not worth it....you will barely feel a diff....now remember, the stage 0 doesn't necessaily need a tune either.....i ran it for 4 months without a tune and i had no problems....
