I want to tint my driver and passenger window to match the priv glass (can't go illegal though)

What % is the priv glass? 35%, 30%, 25%, 20%?

theres no way it can be 20% ... i was going to get my fronts tinted 20% but it would have been too dark ... i wanna say its around 28% ... since i went with 35% on the fronts for legal reason and the backs aren't THAT much different

 

when I got my windows blacked out they said it was 20% on the backs stock.

 

I had my fronts tinted at 35%, and its a match with the rears...

on the phone a tinting professional said that privacy glass from the factory is always 20% (I suppose he could be wrong)

BTW I did a search, and there were too many post on tinting that didn't cover the percent.

 

the xB glass is MUCH lighter then 20% ... i have my fronts 35% and while they are lighter then the backs.. its not by much ...

the privacy glass on the xB is no where near as dark as the glass on say a VAN or a Explorer... go look for yourself .. you will see what i mean

 

thats what my guy told me. He said all factory tint is 20%...but hey it could be wrong...all I know its darker then that now

He is Wrong. each manufacture has there own ...we'll say formula. Gm and ford range about a 22% and chrysler has about a 20%. + each brand of film has several different smaller lines or flavors if you will. there is Lumar, 3M, Solarguard, Matico, SunGard, and a few others. SunGard is what we use, Mostly the desert Smoke series both in a Smoke and a bronze. they also cary a desert charcol as well as 3-4 endurance film lines. So one company may have as many as 45-65 film grades to choose from.

On our white Xb the tint seems to have more of a bronze look then just a smoked look so we opted for a 40% bronze on the front Doors and the whole front windshield. (yea i know) anyhow with that it seemed even more bronze looking. the rear is darker than the front 3 and if i had to guess, which is what i'm gonna say, i'd say its somewhere between a 30/35% Almost like old Lexus glass. The general mill of the glass seems to be mostly bronzish looking over across the Pond. so that is one reason for my inclination of this.... The JDM guys trip all over themselves getting factory bronze glass for there Civics, Why not the bB?

 

I had them tinted. the guy recommended 20%. So that's what I did. It's a close enough match, so I think it looks fine. An EXACT match would be like 25%. but 20% works fine.

 

really, as long as your happy with it and satisfied...who's to argue?
