Default TRD s/c seal replacement

Well I finally got my new seal in today for the s/c. After a lot of google searching I have found. EPM.com has a seal made of viton, they quoted me 35 dollars for the seal you can see the specs hear http://epm.com/metal_viton.htm
I ended up getting the seal from a local bearing supplier. Its A harwel seal. Basically the cr seal is a single lip seal 25-40-7 I got a harwel seal part num- 25-40-07ADL witch is a double lip seal. I will be installing sometime this weekend with pictures of the install i'll post them up as well as a how to guide. I bought two seals for about 3.50 a peice.

What are the advantages between a single lip and double lip seal...and is a double lip seal even compatible?

with the double lip you get better sealing of the oil, more area of the seal is spread across the shaft to keep the oil out rather a single lip. if one lip goes at least you still have another lip of sealing. It will also last longer. heat dose play a huge roll in seal its self, making the rubber seal brittle when hot. thats where a viton seal woul be good cause the heat rang is 480 F + with the stock seal its about 210 F

Yeah I have had the seal size and seal info posted for oh.... almost a year now..?

new seal in and working great. install was a breez and didn't have to take the hole s/c off. just the shaft and the ten 6mm allen bolts on the s/c and off it came. Install time was about 1 hour 15 min. Also sometime you may have shaft play thats is because of the key way is wearing where the shaft coneccts to the s/c and held by a 1/2 inch 12 point APR bolt. I just fliped mine till i replace it with a nice stainless steel key. that will take away a little of the chatter with the s/c
