Default Lowering the family TC

Wife recently got a 2007 TC and I want to drop it a little. I have never lowered anything so I have a couple of questions. I want to keep as much of the ride comfort as possible to begin with so what springs should I get? Also Im not quite sure how low to drop it. I really only want to go enough so that you can tell its been lowered.

I posted in the wrong forum earlier and did get some feedback saying the TDR springs are the way to go, lowering only 1 inch. Unless I get other feedback I guess that will be the way to go.

ride comfort? then TRD is definitely the way to go. to a certain extent the lower and more agile you make the tC, the rougher the ride will get.

go with TRD, you wont scrape anything unless its a really deep curb.

Cool. Looks like TRD. Now I have a 79 SuperBeetle Convertible that has a McPherson front end and you had to compress the front springs to even get the strut assembly out.. is this the same for the TC or can it be removed and then compressed to change the springs?

springs aren't that hard. There is a tech guide on here, i highly recommend it.

front's are super easy, backs are a little bit of a pain. but overall install, quite easy.

TRD seems to be a good balance between ride height, performance, and comfort, which appears to be what you're after. I'd go with Tein H-techs as a little more aggressive option.

For the spring install you can remove the whole strut/spring assembly without compressing the spring at all, then do the compression off of the car. It's not so bad.

yeah go trd, it shouldnt be too stiff compared to stock and not that low to scrape or rub but lowering is noticeable, if your family complains its rough you can just get tires with more sidewall, your tires plays a lot of role in comfort

yeah i have trd on 18s. good fit, good wheel tuck. i actually prefer the very slight extra stiffness just cuz you can feel the road a little better. im upgrading to coilovers soon though just for te extra performance but trd's have definately treated me well
