Default VHT Tinted Tails REMOVAL?

Hello all, I tinted my tails a few months ago (well over a few more like 8 or so). I just decided for kicks I would try and get the VHT off with some thinner... well that wasnt the case ..... So I did a little research online and it seems that it can become "baked" into the tail. I'm assuming that this is whats happened... has anyone had this problem and have any techniques they would like to share?

disclaimer: I searched both the top and the lower search threads along with reading through the few that were posted. I couldnt really find anything.

thanks in advance for all the help!

Its really not that thick. When I put it on I hadnt done any research so there is no clear coat and you can see red coming through on some spots. Im hoping someone who has done it before will drop a line.

Polish it off. It will take some work but it can be done.
What I have done in the past.

Wet Sand with 1500 grit.
wet Sand with 1800 Grit.
Polish with fine grit polish then super fine.
Then buff out.

Yea, Mine got screwed up as I was tiniting them (the tint started peeling off in sheets). So I had to start from scratch. I just sprayed some brake cleaner on em and it came right off. But that stuff also eats away at plastic, so I dont recommend it! You have to be extremely careful with it cause it also clouds the plastic. If you're going to re-tint them then clouding isnt a big deal, but if you're trying to go back to clear, its gonna be tough!

buff it off or wet sand it....get an extra cut buffing compound and buff it till its all off....just dont burn the plastic....be patient it will work though. then when its all off use a polishing compound to finish the plastic and make it shinny again!
