problems with new sub
my friend and i got the same setup...a 15" rockford fosgate T215D4 and an alpine pdx 1.1000 amp. mine hasnt been installed yet, but the other persons box was finished and the audio store said her sub is broken (burned out voice coil). i dont know what that means. the person she bought it from (on eBay) claimed the sub to be new, so that means that not only is it slightly used, but rather heavily used, enough to burn out a coil right? is that right? can those coils be replaced? the company wants her to get rid of that one and buy a sub from her, saying her t2 is now completely useless. Is this true? we really need some answers on this one!!!

I'd have her talk to the eBay people first about a replacement or a refund. Don't let her get in a hurry and buy something from the shop just b/c she's there. Take care of the problem one first and then figure out what to do.
ok here's what happened. she went to the audio shop and ended up buying a 500w kicker on the spot. i wasnt there, and i was supposed to go, but she left while i was in the shower. what do u think she should do? leave the 500w kicker or continue fighting the ebay guy and try to get the 1000w t2 again? i want add any details about what happened so ur opinion isn't swayed.

Well I think no matter what she should be trying to get a refund or replacement through eBay... if, in fact, that sub was DOA. The one she bought might be fine but that doesn't make up for the $ she would have spent on eBay for the dead one.
That's what I'd do at least.

so you're saying that even if she could get it replaced without an additional charge that she should stick with the kicker? or would u not put the kicker in until you found out what was going on with the eBay one (maybe exchangeable)? would u wait to see if u could get another t2 or simply forget about it, try to get your money, and buy the kicker?

Personally I would have waited until I knew what was going on with the eBay one before I bought anything else. But I might be more patient than some...
In her situation I'd say see what she can do about the eBay one. If she's happy with the Kicker she got at the shop, great, keep it. If the eBay people want to give a refund, cool - money back. Or maybe they'll send a replacement sub, cool too - eBay it for $ back or just use it and sell/return the Kicker.
Worst case the eBay people are dicks and say it was working and won't help her out.
It's all personal preference though. I just wouldn't have bought something else until I knew what was going on with the one that I JUST bought.
