Default xB Radio reception

I've recently installed a Audio Formz amp rack in my drivers side rear window with a mono block amp for my Scosche sub woofer using the speaker inputs from the Bazooka tube that was installed from the dealer. Now my radio reception is not as good as before, I know about the antennas in the rear windows and not to use metallic window tint because it will diminish the reception ability of the antenna. I want to know if anyone has installed another antenna, I was thinking about installing a xA stubby antenna on my xB.

gothbox has an external antena, theres a guy in scikotics with speakers in his rear windows, they came in a premade plexi box infact, you might be able to space the amp rack and stuff out enough to not mess with the antenna, you could also coat the bottom of the amp and whatever rack you have with some spray on rubber, or paint on rubber like you would put on tools, or on no slip floors

sometimes when you upgrade to amps, they do exactly what theyre supposed to do, amplify. this means engine noise and distortion as well. do you lose reception when you have your car off as well?

Yep I have bad reception even when the engine is not running. I have mounted a roof antenna like the 2nd generation xB but I am having issues connecting it because the antenna wire is not a standard coax. I have a amplified antenna but it appears the original setup is wired in a way I havent encountered. I think it's amplifier is behind the dash and not at the antenna diplexer at the rear. The stock system appears to be a diversity type using the rear windows to capture the signal from either side that is the strongest. I might have to run a new coax to my new antenna.

I had the same problem when I put in my Kenwood. It turns out that the problem was because I didn't connect the "power antenna" wire from the HU to the stock wires. Once I did this, the problem went away.

Something to look at. Good luck!!!

I didnt change the radio I substituted a new sub woofer for the Bazooka sub woofer. The new amplifier is now installed in the rear drivers side window with a AudioFormz amp rack.
