Default Removing my window tape tommorrow...

So I just found out by that other topic that the flat black material around my windows is actually tape, so I shall be taking it off tomorrow.

A nice hot today around 90* tomorrow should loosen up the tape quite well... IS there anything I need to know before going into this? Im quite nervous if I go to remove it and for some strange reason expose a different color, no paint, etc... haha

How do I start the removal of the tape? What tool to use or where to start?

I can't wait to see how it looks... I really hope it works out, lol.

Thanks for the help!

Yes...I don't understand why they put flat-black tape on shiny black car....

Removal tool that I used - fingernail/fingertips

Will they remove the tape at the dealer?

I want to remove it, but at the same time after looking at it, I like the tape's look. Plus, I don't know if all the trouble of getting it off will be worth it, and then I read on some topics that the adhesive used on the tape removed some clearcoat on the finish. I just don't know if it is a risk I want to take... So for now ill hold off... Maybe when I take car in for my oil change they can remove it for me or just not worry about it...

Stupid tape! ;)

I did mine in a few hours - All you need it patience and a sunny day. I pulled slow and steady - it left no adhesive and no marks behind. A quick wax and it looks great.

You can look at the pic in my profile to get an idea of the difference - the back doors are peeled and the front doors still have the tape

IMO only do this if you have a black xB. the black tape gives the windows a nice flow. you can remove the apillar tape off any color and itll look clean, but leave the window tape alone IMO.
