The owner's manual on my wife's new xD states (pgs. 117-118) that shifting into overdrive is only possible in the "D" position on the automatic transmission. I presume that means it will go into 4th gear (overdrive) in this position, yes?

I had to read it a number of times to make any sense of it- I was expecting some sorta button.
BTW, I really dislike gated shifters. On the plus side- this transmission shifts rather smoothly, better than my '03 V6 Passat
