Default Front Bumper drilling

I recall, when I bought my first tC, there was a big deal with the bumpers being drilled for plates, regardless of what state you life in. I've been fortunate enough to live in a state that doesn't require front plates, and I've managed to get 3 cars that aren't predrilled.

I was just curious, is this still a concern or does it still happen? Any xD's been predrilled? Thought it up since Delta is seeing what we deviants want to see and thats one of the products they offer.

Yes, they are required here. Since photo red light enforcement has come to Oregon (Albany for sure), and it operates typically on front plates, you will start to see stepped up enforcement.

My xB got here and I intercepted it before it could be drilled. Still trying to figure out how I am going to mount it below and have it look okay.

Tell me, what's an 'invisible mask?' Thanx!

They make kits for mounting plates without resorting to drilling an innocent bumper cover.
I absolutely deplore dealers that automatically drill bumpers just to mount their crappy dealer advertisment plates. Yes I've seen this done even in states that don't issue front tags.

They dont have much choice in some states. The fine can be as much as $1000 per occurence if they dont drill and mount the plate on your car. Such as WA state.

For the person that wanted to know if their state requires it. It usually is pretty =easy to tell. How many cars do you see with or without plates on the front end of your vehicle. The majority will tell u the rule. Here in AZ the only front plate cars we have are out of staters.

As for the other question on the invisible mask. It is a clear bra that goes on the front of your car to prevent pitting and/or chipping your paint.

Clear bras are the only way to go for those wondering. When my front end gets repainted it's getting a clearbra this time around.

On my xA, I mounted the plate using some stainless steel carriage bolts on the lower grille. I believe that it looks much better than having the plate affixed to the bumper. One could probably do the same thing on the xD.

All one would need is a couple L brackets mounted underneath the front lip.
