Default Hmm trying to decide. Zpi Stage 0 or TRD Supercharger?

It looks like i'm finally going to have enough money to move away from the days of my NA setup, and move on to good ole forced induction. Been a year since i've actually done anything to my car, or even took it to the track for 1/4 mile time, but I think it's time to move on from the days of racing for 14's (I hit a 14.9 with Intake/Header/TRD AxelBack).

So which would be faster to go with? With the supercharger i would buy the pulley as well so take that into account. I'm just thinking that the ZPI turbo is much faster, but I was hoping I could get some opinions here.

Thanks

zpi is no longer.

so trd supercharger would be your best bet. Unless you're looking at other possible turbo kits...

What are some other good turbo kits that are around that price range?

not sure on price range. Those f/i guys could help you on that. I know there are a few companies out there though. turbotoyotas, stripper, turbonetics, dezod... just to name a few.

what year is your car? I would say the best bet would either be the TRD supercharger or get the Turbo Toyota's stage 1 without the ball bearing turbo... dezod kits are fairly affordable too and they have great quality also... how much are you looking to spend and what are your goals?

I don't know much about F/I but................. I would say stay away from both ZPI and the TRD S/C.

1. ZPI is not around anymore, so I doubt you'll receive any help from them if you have an issue with the turbo

2. I have heard of way too many people having to get a new engine due to the TRD S/C

What do I know though? I'm stock as can be.... woooo.

Go Dezod, TurboToyotas, or Treadstone. Those are all good kits.

Give Dezod a call. So far they have a great rep from what I have seen and dont seem to be going anywhere.

As for the piping and other components (exhaust), you can look to buscher racing (sp?). They are the ones that made all of the piping components for zpi to start with. And according to them, they were never the reason for the parts being late to customers... they were waiting for payment from zpi before shipping them. They are now selling the same parts now that zpi is gone. So they may turn out to be a good option for spipes, exhaust, etc.

I know a place where u can get a brand new in the box TRD super for 1850 at.. Not sure on the prices on the turbo setups your looking at, but if you wish to stay under a warranty may be something to look into esp. at that price.

Well I know TRD sparks has a the Super for 1800, but now I'm kinda worried about the reliability. Also has anyone broken 13's yet with their supercharger? I feel it would be possible as i broke into 14's with just intake and header.

unless you modify the supercharger too you won't break 13's

and unless you are for pinks

you won't break 14's with intake and header

Here is my Topic from last year when I hit my 15.063 time and you can find the timeslip of the 15.1 on the 2nd page. I hit the 15.063 at the Scion show and drag thing at Sacramento Raceway last year. I hit the 14.98 on my last run before summer ended when I let out tire pressure and gutted all the seats out of my car.

So it is possible. It just takes some good driving, and a hell of a launch. So thanks.

Only way your getting a Stage 0 is used....

+1 for a turbo though.

And i call BS running 14.9 with your mods. I barely hit 14.9 and i had I/H/E/Pulley/Spipe (2.21 60 foot)

But hey! Stage 0 > S2K!

EDIT*

You gutted the car....i didn't read that part....I had full interior w/ spare...

I don't know why people are saying it's impossible to hit a really a 14.9 with just Intake and Header. Seriously throw a good set of tires on there, gut it, and launch good and it's possible!

p.s. I have Toyo Proxes 4 tires.

weight reduction and different tires is totally different than just.....I/E

i'm not denying that you did that.

just include the other mods you did, the less you put. the less credible you sound.

haha, tires really do make a difference, it's like wearing all-weather boots and running the track vs donning a pair of Onitsuka and running the track

makes all the difference, yea the driver/runner does come into play too, obviously a big big part, but the tires and shedding the weight is what got you the time. not the intake and headers.

because ill tell you right now.

they do absolute ____ to your car, don't be mistaken.

i just read that other thread.

ahha, man. you really have to start remembering to put the tires and weight reduction down.

it makes a difference and you are sitting there making teenage net junkies think that with intake and headers they can pull 14's and shti.
