Luc1f3r 09-07-2007, 03:17 AM IMO they are not knock off VRDs they are their own style!

mylnnor 09-08-2007, 05:43 PM knock offs of the VRDs
ilovemytC 09-10-2007, 03:29 AM Actually these were on the market before VRDs, they are more knock-offs of the is300 lights.
Here are mine, smoked with yellow H3 bulbs:

Pretty flush with the bumper:

mylnnor 09-10-2007, 04:03 AM i do like how they are flush.
05FMtC 09-11-2007, 04:44 AM http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/93greenakkord/CIMG7698.jpg
mine r just modded a lil :)
jas0nh 09-11-2007, 09:57 PM Looks cool. I might get these instead of the VRD's.
jas0nh 09-11-2007, 11:14 PM Does anyone know if this will fit into the '08 tC (not RS or SPEC; just regular)?
Body wise, the 05-08 are the same. The car has not changed mechanically or physically (besides cosmetics) since it debuted.
ilovemytC 09-12-2007, 05:23 PM I wonder if these will fit with the RS1 front lip? I'm still waiting for the CF lip to be off back order :tap: then will find out!
Luc1f3r 09-12-2007, 06:38 PM you have to cut the lip for them to work (so ive heard, i dont have a lip)
tcridinclean 09-12-2007, 07:01 PM those fogs are ugly im sorry
tCb00b 09-12-2007, 07:09 PM These are the rejected VRD design. They used to be a lot cheaper too. Nice to see people bought them and modded them. They used to have an ugly orange color in the housing looks like things have changed.
jas0nh 09-19-2007, 04:48 AM Okay my first attempt at working on my car and this noob :lalala: already have a problem. Just to clarify on my post from before, I bought these, but I asked for the VRD's installation instructions because they're basically the same. So I followed the instructions for the OEM fogs, because someone mentioned that the wiring are the same except for the bottom grill part. I am at the first step where I have to remove the engine under covers. Thing is, I can't find them. So the question is: Do I really have to remove the front bumper to install these? If not, can someone please show me the best way to install them on an '08 tC?
Will collaborate with pics of under the car tomorrow.
ilovemytC 09-19-2007, 05:21 PM ^What I did was take the wheel off, and peel back the wheel well splash guard. You do have to remove the splash guards underneath via some screws, but it's easy. There is a DIY on how to remove those splash guards on an intake install DIY, Ill find it later...all you do is remove the two screws by the fender, remove the 2-3 screws under the splash guard and peel back the liner.
SunrisetC 09-20-2007, 02:10 AM The fogs are obviously better than oem!

You think this is how the dealer does it?
ilovemytC 09-20-2007, 06:18 PM Probably, the two body shops I went to for my intake were going to do it that way after I told them it's easier than taking the bumper off.
What are you afraid of? You're not going to mess anything up, unless you fail to tighten down your lug nuts properly and your wheel falls off, or if you lose the screws to the fender liner

Lol that ^. But I will try it this way over the weekend. I just need to be able to get to those damn holes at the bottom of the bumper so I probably won't take my wheel off.
jas0nh 09-24-2007, 12:09 AM Okay so I got these installed onto the slots, but the wiring is confusing me. They don't come with the 7-pin white connector for under the dash, and there is also no 1-pin connector to connect to the wire from the vehicle (the one wrapped in breakaway tape). The wire harness also came with 3 grounds instead of just one like the OEM fog lights; there are 1 red and 2 blacks. Any help on wiring this thing? Thanks.

Those are the wirings. Obviously it's lacking the 7-pin connector for the car's white connector. I also have no idea where to put the switch and relay, because how can I route it to the panel inside? Also, there is a small wire-connector clip that I am assuming to use to connect the red wire that gets cut off to the 1-pin connector (the one wrapped in breakaway tape). I also have no idea what the white wires (wrapped in black) with metal connector at the end are for; same with the black 2-pin connect with the cap. Any help on figuring this thing out would be greatly appreciated.

Red wire: tap into a power wire in the fuse box on driver's side. I t-tapped it to a brown wire in the harness so they would come on with the parking lights
Black wire: Ground that somwhere in the fuse box on driver's side, it's short so that's the only place to put it or you could get more ground wire and make it longer.
^Those two wires are for your switch.
Long black taped wires: Those you have to feed through the firewall and connect it to the other end.

Connect the relay
Fuse goes in the box and close the cover
connect that silver end to the wire coming out of the firewall
red wire goes to battery
black ground wire to battery or a grounding bolt in engine
long black wire goes to left side fog light
shorter black wire goes to right side fog light
^I would connect all the wires first before mounting/taping the relay. Hope this helps!
ilovemytC 09-24-2007, 01:23 AM if you need pics of what I did under the fuse box in the driver's side let me know. Also if you need pics of the firewall :D
jas0nh 09-24-2007, 01:46 AM if you need pics of what I did under the fuse box in the driver's side let me know. Also if you need pics of the firewall :D
Yes please. Also, where do I connect the red wire to the battery? (Pic will help). Thank you.
gcxandy 09-24-2007, 03:07 AM take out the bolt on the positive side of the battery
and slip the red wire in and bolt it shut.
jas0nh 09-24-2007, 09:43 PM So what you're saying is to completely ignore the warning to not touch the positive side of the battery with any tools and risk an electrifying death :nails:?
jas0nh 09-25-2007, 01:56 AM Hey ilovemytC, so I got the wire through the firewall. Is this the correct place to connect the red wire to the battery?

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/8900/dscn0045copyjd8.jpg
Also, which brown wire should I tap into so that the fog lights turn on with the parking lights? Thanks.
Bomber_JY 09-26-2007, 09:33 AM IMO they are not knock off VRDs they are their own style!
i also have OEM fogs with headlight armor covers...

where did you get those oem fog covers!??!?!! i want to get them...
Luc1f3r 09-26-2007, 12:29 PM headlight armor.
Bomber_JY 09-26-2007, 07:59 PM is your oem fog connected? or do they just sit there? i wanna get some vrd but dont wanna remove my oem....this one looks like a good idea~~
Luc1f3r 09-26-2007, 09:59 PM they are connected, and rewired to work with the park lights, they are on all the time (as are my head lights) i actually never turn on my "JDM" lights unless someone ask to see the output, i just wanted something in the holes.
jas0nh 09-26-2007, 10:49 PM ^Hey orangesuburban could you help me with the JDM lights' connection? Haven't got a respond yet from ilovemytC. Right now everything is connected except tapping it to turn on with the parking light, yet it's not lightning up at all lol. I am thinking faulty wires.
ilovemytC 09-27-2007, 12:41 AM hey Jason, sorry been out fishing....yeah the same thing happened to me, I hooked everything up but the red wire from the switch, that is the problem. You have to tape them to the brown wire in the harness.....
Luc1f3r 09-27-2007, 12:59 AM there is a write up for it on here somewhere... red wire to brown wire, CUT THE BROWN WIRE. red wire goes to the brown wire that goes to the harness... if you find the topic it will be a lot more clear lol.
ilovemytC 09-27-2007, 01:12 AM 1. open the fuse box and reach up and pop out the switch panel, it pushes right out
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b60/ilovemy65stang/MY%20TC/pic1.jpg
2. find the harness and push on the black button to release...it takes a bit of wiggling to get out. oh yeah, install the fog light switch first lol.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b60/ilovemy65stang/MY%20TC/pic2.jpg
3. find the 3 brown wires. You will have to cut back some of the tape. I first tried the brown wire with 1 silver spot paint but it didn't work. brown with the 3 silver spots works..I dunno what the other one does. You do not have to cut the wire, just use a t-tap.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b60/ilovemy65stang/MY%20TC/pic3.jpg
(I made a mistake by tapping into the big red wire thinking it was always hot, but it only let the fogs go on/off with the headlights, you can see the black electrical tape in pic.)
4. Here's where I put the black ground wire:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b60/ilovemy65stang/MY%20TC/pic4.jpg
ilovemytC 09-27-2007, 01:17 AM as for your wires to the battery, that's where I put mine. Hope this helps and please if you still need help, pm me anytime.
Luc1f3r 09-27-2007, 01:18 AM great pics man!
ilovemytC 09-27-2007, 01:22 AM ^Thanx Joey!
btw, I'm a chick but whatev...remember when I asked you for help with these? lol
jas0nh 09-27-2007, 05:30 AM ^ Thank YOU ! Those blurry picture sure helped . Got the lights working. I'll take some pics tomorrow, or maybe after I wash the car lol. Or maybe even after getting the Figure grills and third brake light installed. Those are my next projects.
One thing though, my fog light switch gets power all the time (it's lit up all the time), so I basically can turn the fog lights on or off any time I like, without or without any park lights or low beam on. Does your do the same thing? And just to be on the safe side, it's not gonna drain my battery does it lol? I know it's tiny power consumption but just want to be sure.
Luc1f3r 09-27-2007, 12:22 PM 1 of the power wires ( the short one at the switch) goes to an acc wire, not a constant wire... but no, it wont drain your battery (i have mine wired like you as well 3+ months with no dead battery.)
ilovemytC 09-27-2007, 06:53 PM my light doesn't stay on when the car is off,...but I think you're fine
jas0nh 10-04-2007, 05:17 AM ilovemytC, do you know what size bulb are these? OEM fogs are 9006; for these I was shipped an extra pair of H3. So I am guessing they're H3? I considering PIAA bulbs for the low beams and fogs.
Luc1f3r 10-04-2007, 03:18 PM have you turned them on yet? they are already stupid bright, i havent seen a need to change the bulbs yet! but i do have silverstar H1 bulbs in my low beams...
jas0nh 10-04-2007, 03:58 PM I agreed they are pretty bright. Cool looking. But I am planning to change my whole front setup to either PIAA or Luminics, white-ish color. You have H1 on your low beam? You meant H11?
ilovemytC 10-04-2007, 09:20 PM H3
