Wow!!! There goes my xA...
I owed $14,100 on my loan and the insurance comapny gave me $13,100 for it. Not including my $500 deductable, I only owed $500!!! But alas, the GAP insurance covered the rest. If I hadn't rolled $1000 in negative equity when I bought it, I would have broke even without having to use my GAP. It was a 2006 but almost two years old. Talk about holding value. Still deciding between a Honda CBR streetbike (I've always wanted one) or a xB or xD. Will keep you up to date.
Glad to hear the wifey is A-ok. For being such a small car, the xA for the most part protects it's occupants. Sorry to hear about the loss, personally, i'd be devastated. Keep us updated what you get next!
Glad to hear everything turned out ok, especially your wife. The xA does very well at protecting the people inside. Good to know the xA holds its value as well. Hard to decide what you want after such a great car! Let us know!
Not just pets, but all animals unless it's a huge bear. It was the one thing they drilled into our heads over and over in driving school.
Absolutely, positively, never ever, slam on your breaks, swerve, or flip out when an animal comes in front of the car.
Just keep on trucking.

I hit a small dog on I-12 going 75MPH and ended up with $3700 damages....
Don't freak out but do try to slow/drive around animal if possible but when its unavoidable DON'T try anything crazy.
The xA can handle a lot but if its dropped 2" even a cat will damage front end $$.
