At least with Borla its gonna be great quality and looks, and I dought it will sound like a bumbble bee. Anyway it looks like I am buying one so Ill let you guys know.

The price is right. I paid $375 shipped for my TRD which was too much, IMO. Oh well, I like the TRD tip better so I guess I got something for the extra $100.

i own the car that Borla used to design & test fit the rear section exhaust system. i have the prototype installed on my car. The exhaust is very quite on idle but when you accelrate past 3000 rpm.... u get a good exhaust note.

BTW...Borla has developed a dual exhaust rear section system. i'm waiting if they decide to produce production. I've seen the prototype and was fitted on my car, i liked it and what to switch to dual exhaust.

hmm, u think its impossible for our xb's to expose the canister? I think mufflers look great with the canister, not with just some piping sticking out..

Yea the kit is reli Sweet, Im not to sure about the front thow. Looks like it points up to much. I can get the Kit +paint+installed for $1400 still not sure if i should go threw with it.

I started it and it is pretty quiet with a pretty low tone. It didn't get very loud when I revved it. I didn't get to hear it moving. I think between 2 cats and a resonator there's not much sound left to muffle.

Sparks has the borla dual exhaust for $350. I like the way it looks but it may be a little to load for me.

I checked out the Borla dual last weekend. It is not as loud as it sounds in that video.

eh, it looks like crap if you ask me. The style of the exhaust tips don't fit the rear or flow with the rest of the car, they stand out like a sore thumb.

Not to mention, you are paying $500+ for an exhaust kit with minimal gains, for around $100 more you can have a custom full exhaust, better gains and have it flow better with the car as well.

I have to agree. I love Borla as a company and have religiously used their products in the past, but this exhaust just doesn't look right. A flat-back vehicle with two big, round tips coming out the back..... i dunno, personal preference says "ewww".

I just got a new 08 XB with the Borla dual exhaust from factory and it looks and sounds great. Well worth the money!!!

If Borla is only a pipe with a nice tip then why not go to a good exhaust shop and have a pipe done with a nice tip? Would it not have the same effect?

What is the volume level INSIDE the car with the TRD exhaust installed? Does it sound the same note as the Borla clip earlier in this thread?

with the trd there is no noise in the car none at all the trd sounds stock unless you take out the resonator

They're 4" which I thought would be a little large. But the stock reverse light is about 4" in diamater. So it may look alright. They're angle cut and dual wall.

Is it raspy at all? Sounded good at idle and low rpms but I couldn't really tell what it sounded like at high rpms. I really didn't like the looks of this exhaust but its been growing on me (especially the dual tips).

Not really raspy. Has a pretty crisp sound if you will.

Also just reposting a good pic of a dead center shot to answer the question about the sides. Seems to be even to me. I'm glad my xb doesnt have those stupid dealer stickers on the back.

Just got mine on! sounds really good! nice and deep at lower rpm and at higher it kinda goes away and i love it no drone (ok very lil) what i love about it most it has the look w/out the riced out tin can sound!

Why do you think it would be stupid to get one if you have an auto? Unless you're are looking for HUGE power gains then yes, but if you want a better sound and look than stock go for it! I'm really thinking about getting one for my XB2.

i only got it to fill the hole in the 5axis kit. purely for looks. i got mine from trdsparks came fast cheapest place that i found 300 and something dollars cheaper then msrp. i had some trouble putting it on with out airtools at my friends place so i went home to do it. much easier. if you do it your self takes 20 min make sure you put some wd40 in the bushings much easier to get the hooks off and back on again

fitment at first was ok the left side stuck out a lil further then the right side. i didnt put the pipe far enough into the other one so i just loosened a bolt moved it back done and done.

who cares if you have an auto. GET IT! hahah looks and sounds good in my books.

I'm really don't care for power gains, just want it to look good, and most importantly, don't want it to sound obnoxious. This is my fiance's car, but I like to fix it up for fun since my ride is already modified how I like it.

We have heard some sound clips now of the Borla dual set-up. I am not 100% sold on the "real life" sound of the exhaust based on you tube clips.

For you guys that have heard these exhausts in person, would you say rice or not? I want something that you can hear but not something that sounds like a civic trying to be a rocket.

Also, are there is any sound differences in tone and volume level between the single pipe vs. duals? I like the borla set up because I am not interested in having a giant can underneath and the borla's hide nicely.

Feedback and opinions will be grately appreicated.

i honestly barely hear the exhaust from inside my car. at higher rpm i hear my intake more then exhaust. i was surprised how quiet it really is given the fact it has no muffler. sound clips dont do any justice to the exhaust. it sounds nothing like it in person. i love the sound. but i do wish it was a hair louder haha and trust me im not a fan at all with loud exhaust. i drive a lot of freeway and hate the sound of droning.

You guys do realize that this same sound can be achieved by simply going to an exhaust garage & having them fabricate a dual exhaust for you... correct? I mean, I'm not trying to put ya'll down, but why are you spending this kind of money on an exhaust that consists of nothing but stainless pipes & borla tips???? :question: Hell, if it's the tip design that you like, then just buy the tips & let the shop put them on their custom setup for you. You'll save quite a bit of $$$.

The pipes aren't creating the sound you all seem to be enjoying... it's the scuba-tank resonator and LACK of a muffler.

true but then i would have to take the time out of my life and go there. and will end up costing 150-200 for just the pipes and bending it. another 70 or so for the tips so all and all roughly 300 + taking it to the shop. id rather spend a lil more have it shipped to my house. + i guess borla uses some type and stainless i dunno. i could care less

I cannot tell. I just ordered my 08 xb but I do not buy anything aftermarket from the delaer I have a custom Borla exhause on my Matrix xrs and will always go w/Borla but I need to know if there is actually a muffler from Borla or just a piping.
Also I know that the stock piping is 2" what is the Borla piping 2.5" or 2.25"

so anybody know this is or not?

Our muffler is mid-car. The big oval thing you all see under the back side of the car is a resonator.

I highly suggest staying away from this setup. It is literally a pipe with a tip for over $300.00.

Let me give you all a tip who are CONSIDERING this type of sound. Crawl under your car right in front of the passanger side back tire. There are two bolts thats are connecting this resonator to the rest of your exhaust. Unbolt those then use some WD-40 and spray the exhaust hanger (found in the back of the car-its a big black rubber piece) then remove it. This process is made easier if you have a friend help.

Then, start your xB and rev it. Take it for a drive. It will be a little noisy on the inside, but the sound you hear will be the sound that you will be getting from the Borla system.

If you like this sound, by all means find someone around you that wants to get rid of there stock axel back (thats what this piece that you just took off is called) and take it to an exhaust shop. Ask them to cut out the resonator (remember, its the big cylinder shapped object on the axel back) and weld a small piece of pipe in its place, but making sure it doesn't change the bend.

Once this has been completed, re-install the axel back onto your car. Remember how it sounded on the inside (it was a little loud), well now the sound won't be as loud on the inside, but it will sound awesome from the outside.

You know have what Borla is selling for probably 1/4 of the price.

On a side note, the first thing I did to my xB when I got it was unbolt my axel back. I drove around without the resonator for about a month before I finally got tired of the drone on the inside of the cabin. My girl was pulling her hair out, but I didn't really care. Anyways, point is that if you want this setup, have an exhaust shop just weld a piece where the resonator would be and the drone will be gone but you will still have a nice sound. Toyota did us right in this form, but TRD is trying to rip us off because those resonators are like $20 and they are selling performance resonators? Give me a break.

If anyone is located in the Bay Area in Cali, there's a guy in San Jose that can do this for $250 and comes highly recommended. I'm probably going to go to him after I get my interior finished...
