i just got these and thought id put it up for you guys to see. 245/40/r18 i wonder if 18s are too big and i was also told that it might throw off my speedometer and odometer what do u guys think???

 

Those tires are HUGE!

Most people get 225/40/18 or if they want more protection 235/40/18. I've never heard of anyone using 245/40 on an 18 inch wheel. I don't think it looks too good.

 

yeah they are kinda big thats y im just tryin these on to see how they fit i mean they fit well but i told myself b4 that i would never get 18's. I prefer 245/40/r17 not 18's.

 

Those are fine if your rims are wide, maybe at least 8.5 or 9. Your odo and speedometer will be thrown off when you increase or decrease your overall diameter.. with 18s and a 40 sidewall, you should be fine. I do agree, those tires look too wide I presume your rims are 18x7 or 18x7.5 you might consider 225 40 18.. with the pic you showed it looks like 17s coz the sidewall looks thick maybe due to excess rubber

 

Do guys think it would be better if it was 235/35 cuz the profile 40 is too big i do agree.

i think ima run 235 im im guessing it is 18x8 or 8.5 for this tire to be able to be here but 245's are too big. so maybe ima do 235/35/r18

 

why not get 224/40 18's?

 

Well at the same time i kinda wanted it a lil bit wider and maybe 235's might be the right size and plus the 40 profile is a lil too thick iono i might not get these neways cuz 18's are too big.

yes i do anyways, the recomended size for 18's has always been 225/40's

 

ic ok, but im still debating whether to keep these rims.

 

No if you have 19s. 40 profile for 18s is not big, its perfect for 18s, your sidewall looks thick though for a 40 but it could be due to a too wide tire but you sure its not 45? 235 might be better but you have to be sure that that rim you have at least 18x8.5 and not 18x7 or 7.5 just to be safe. putting 35 or 45 profile on 18s will alter your overall diameter so you might be having problem with your odo and speedometer. And 35 is a lil harsh in ride than 40, so i suggest stick with 225 40 18

i would stick with 18x7.5- 18x8 with a 225/40/18 tire

19's can be worked right, but i dont know that much on them

plus a very important factor is offset
