Panoramic MOON ROOFS --- does it get too hot?!
I've been seriously considering getting the Webasto panoramic moonroof (Hollandia 524, w/ vinyl roll-up shades)... but what worries me is that it'll get *extremely* hot for my rear seat passengers. The front passengers have direct AC, but what about the back?
Owners -- ever hear your rear passengers frustrated by the heat, at all?
I've searched all over the forums to find more info on this, but nothing turned up. (Maybe I'm searching wrong?) I really want some honest reviews from actual owners before dropping $2200 on an investment that could become a big regret.

I'm gonna comment only because I have the tc with its own moonroof and I looked up the product and my thoughts are that....
It looks like it has a stock tint to it, so it might now be so bad. It also says it has a "rollo sunshade" which I assume is the same thing that re-tracts on the tC. So I'm gonna go ahead and say you should be find, but when parked in the sun you might want to put up that vinyl sunshade to block out the sun. Thats the only time I notice my car heating up is when I just leave it open. Otherwise I drive with the moon-roof showing all the time. Makes the car feel more open. Hope that helps a little!

Really appreciate the comment cupcake, even if not for xB.
Unfortunately, the rollo shades on those webasto panoramic moonroofs aren't quite as nice as your tC's. From what I remember @ the dealership, the tC rollos can block out the sun entirely (covers up all moonroof visibility) but the webasto after market ones (1) have perforations, nice to always be looking out, but reduces sun block
, and (2) have gaps between some parts of the moonroof so it doesn't get covered all the way.
Here's a pic of the gap... you can get a taste of the perforations if you look closely at those trees in the background

But yea, totally agreed, I loooooove the way it seems it would open up the car. It brings back fond memories of camping at Yosemite with a mesh-top tent being able to stare at the trees while safely "indoors"

I have it, and I love it. However, there are a couple of things you'll probably want to consider:
1) It's noisy, even when closed. The little pop-up deflector is slightly warped after three years, and there's a bit of a whistle.
2) No more automatic car wash. It leaks under the high-pressure jets.
3) The little plastic slider tabs on the back of the front panel are pretty cheap, and both of mine have broken. You can find the part numbers for replacement on their website, http://techwebasto.com (direct link - http://www.techwebasto.com/sunroof_m...ndia%20524.pdf).
I just put some bathtub caulk in them, put them back on, and I haven't had any problems since.
I haven't noticed much of a problem with the heat, but I'm in Minnesota.

Thanks for all the replies...
I did it. Bought it for $1500 from a dealer down here in Los Angeles, an INCREDIBLE deal when compared to the $2200 I was originally quoted.
The heat. It's still winter so I'm still not sure about the heat raining down while parking at a grocery store.
The wind noise. I also had really bad wind noises at first, when driving above 25+... but I brought it back and they fixed it nicely. Now the wind noise is only noticeable when I have the music muted and I'm going 70+. But then again at that speed you're bound to get wind noise already.
The view. So far I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. Driving through the city is as much a trip as it is driving through the forest.
Here it is from the inside.

I need this company's info. One of the guys in our club has that roof and the retract button broke, he can't open the glass now. it was installed in North Carolina and they want him to take it back down there to get it fixed. I don't even know who made the kit.
