Default Whassup guys, noob to SL here.

I've had my RS2 for a little over a year now. Just before her 1st birthday, this happened:

My wife and I were rear ended by an illegal alien driver who didn't have a driver's license, id or insurance. They were thinking of running away (gathering their stuff). Thankfully, the driver couldn't see (airbag flash). Luckily the cops came quickly and nabbed them. Cops impounded their car and brought them in.

After over a month in the body shop, I got my baby back. There was over $8,000 in damages. Luckily I only have a $250 deductible and my insurance is gonna have to deal with it on their own.

I just hope that this doesn't affect the resale value of my car or when it comes time to trade her in. Lucky for me tho, I did purchase GAP insurance so incase it was totalled, I wouldn't be screwed with the difference.

Sorry to hear that, but glad you are both OK. I hate to say it but unfortunately it will affect the resell value, it is in your CARFAX for example.

You are lucky you don't live in NY, they are passing a law that will allow illegal immigrants to get a valid drivers license. How this is not contradicting the whole idea of "illegal immigrants" is beyond me, I am so upset about it.

Thank goodness you and your wife are alright. It's too bad about your car but like flint_08 mentioned it is definitely going to affect the trade in value, especially at $8000 worth of repairs.

Yeah, thank God we're ok.

i can understand why some people commit the fraud. meaning if I were to trade my car in, I'd get thousands below bluebook whereas if the car was totalled, the insurance pays for the full bluebook value and gap insurance pays for the rest and so you pay nothing out of pocket.

i love all of my cars so I can't see myself doin something like that.

that sucks about new york. i'm just thankful that the Governator strikes down licenses for illegals everytime it hits his desk. even if you license those people, they will still NOT buy insurance.

foreigners can buy insurance if they want to drive in the state of California so all of this talk to give them license is BS.

Well in NY they just announced a law that will allow illegal immigrants to get a NY Drivers License. Look it up, this is no BS.

Dude, are you thinking that I'm saying your claim is BS?

No, no, no, no!!! Misunderstanding here. I'm not saying your claim is BS.

What I'm saying that is BS is that politicians say that if you give illegals license, they WILL BUY insurance.

Ah I see what you are saying, but yeah completely ridiculous, we are basically saying "Well I guess its OK for you illegal immigrants to be here, and just to show this we are going to give you a NY drivers license". hahah

I couldn't believe it.

I'm glad Virginia is cracking down on illegal aliens who break the law. If an illegal alien gets pulled over for a traffic violation, they get deported. Police, however, can't harass or try to deport an illegal alien if they haven't broken the law (other than the fact that they came in to the country illegally).

Sorry to hear about your car though.

My last car had over $7k in damages after being rear ended, including frame damage. Didn't show up on Carfax and didn't affect my resale value.

Did you report it to the DMV?

By law you're supposed to. Oh well.

Yes I did. My car was not operable, the police had to be called out, and a report was made to my insurance company and the DMV. Still nothing.
