Default The chip/nicks start already

I drive my car on highway a lot because of work. I make a special note to stay away from big trucks and to try and keep off peoples tails for fear of flying rocks. Well i have had my car less then two weeks and already i found a nick in the hood

Yup it sucks big time. What makes it even worse is having the black pearl which makes them chips stick out even more.

Well get your paint out and start dabbing it on. Make sure you take all the paint off the brush and then dip it back in so almost nothing but a pinhead size dot is on the end. ........you will get used to doing it.

Most of the new cars out there have such soft paint that it is normal to get dings inthem ...........just part of owning a new car.......... touchup paint and lots of patience...........it is easy to hide.........

Once you have about 40 chips you will start not to care. I have many hood chips and now they are slowly creeping to the side a little. keep your car dirty to hide them or touch up routinely lol. I need to dedicate a day to touching up.

I have never used touch up paint on any of my cars. Do you guys just dab it on and thats it ? Are there any more steps that are needed ? buffing maybe ?

Is it just me or has anyone else in here ever concluded that the TC's paint gets scratched and chipped (very) easily by pebbles, keys, metal buttons, etc??? Didn't Toyota (Scion) ever applied any paint protection on our rigs?

that first chip, nick or scratch is like freshman hazing for the car.

for some reason every car ive had, has had that one initial chip or whatever that ____ed me off, but then after that the car seems to be pretty good at dodging such blemishes.

4 days after i got my 08 i got a chip in the hood. from the highway...lovely.

it happens.

Yea, I have a few from highway driving. I try to avoid it as much as possible. I need to dedicate a day to touchups. Don't mention love bugs hurting the paint too.

I got Simoniz paint protection for my car, and it's totally worthless. The best protection you can have is to wax your car every oil change or so, and put a bra on. I'm actually about to get a new front-end and a new hood because there's so much crap all over my car.

Exact same thing happened to me. Wtf kind of crappy windshield can't even deflect a tiny stone without it leaving a big hole in the glass? This happened on the freeway when I wasn't even close to any traffic. Damn thing just flew out of nowhere or dropped out the sky or something.

Oh, and my sunroof got hit by a falling pinecone while I was inside the car, parked and minding my own business. It has a little permanent flaw in the glass now as a reminder.

Like Dogbert said, keeping a healthy coat of wax on your car (especially the front end) will go a long way towards protecting it from the smaller stuff.

I wax my car like crazy, I mustve applied 7 coats already in the last 4 months.

and I have plenty of chips to prove that theory wrong on so many levels.

a micro thin layer of wax isnt going to stand a chance against a rock on the highway.

^ but it surely does help make it skid off the car - what you are doing surely helped with a few marks that you could have gotten. I use that wet wax that you put on after the car is washed .... its easy and works pretty decent.
