I just got my order from www.zainobros.com and spent half the night waxing my tc. I've only got 2 words: Holy S**t. I can't believe the difference. You would think that stock paint couldn't be improved that much, but it can. If anyone has been thinking about ordering from Zaino, DO IT NOW. You won't be dissapointed. I'll post pics later today if the sun ever comes out....

Ok... I just ordered the ZFX, Z2, and Z6 from them the other night. My car is new, but since I'm starting this whole process I'll probably use the clay bar I picked up the other day (not Zaino) before I start.

What did you use and do you have any comments or tips on the process? How long did it take?

Yes, Zaino Bros. is the way to go. You learn very quickly why they rate the best in every test.

Remember, it is better to use less vs. more of the products. In past tests, it was less effective when they used too much of the prodicts. A little goes a loooooong way.

Thanks for the tips - can you point me to any tests where they've come out ahead? I'm definitely not doubting they do, just wanting to see what they tested.

Also, what products do you personally use? They sell so many things that I was just following some other advice getting the Z2 ZFX and Z6...

That's just about all you need. Although a clay bar is a necessity every now and then...

You can search on google and see TONS of reviews and complimentary articles on it. My friend bought GuruReports.com's test they did of 46 different waxes. Zaino won.

Since then, that's pretty much all I'll use. You get what you pay for though.

Make sure when you do the buffing you use a pure white 100% cotton "made in USA" towell and cut off the parts that are sewn or not "puffy". The made in USA part is important because they make pure cotton towels that have no foreign objects imbeded. Also before you use the towels wash them first with liquid laundry detergent. Powder detergent doesn;t disolve completely and could get stuck in the fibers and scratch your Scion.

Lastly. wash the car with regular Dawn soap first to remove any old wax, then claybar it, then wash again with Dawn soap.

When I had my 98 Buick Regal it used to take me a about 2-3 days for a complete Zaino job... but the end results were well worth it.

One last thing - after the car is stripped, clayed, washed, and zaino (Z2)'d, do you need to put on some other wax to protect it, or is the Z2 good enough?

no. after you use z-2, make a trip around the car with z-6 and your finished. One coat of Z2 will last 6-7 months (i've heard0.

Zaino is good enough, if not better than regular carnuba wax. I would almost bet that regular wax would not stick to the Zaino.

Can you get this wax at stores or just online? I used meguiars on a scratched up blazer and it did wonders for it! But I will give the zaino stuff a try!

Your local auto parts store will sell like one or two zaino branded things, but I think they're just general products - you can't get the range or the high end stuff in stores. Just get together a little money and buy it all at once online.

You can use Z-5 which will fill and hide minor scratches and swirls but I would suggest removing the scratches prior to applying any Zaino products. One thing about Zaino is if you have marring that the Z-5 doesn't hide/fill, it will really show after applying Z-2 (esp. if you have a dark colored car).

I've read that some people have used wax on top of Zaino but I agree with florencescion. Seems to me there would be a bonding issue with a polymer and wax.

Zaino Z-2 has an optical clarity of 99.9%. I don't believe that many other waxes have that high of a level of clarity, so putting something on top of it, even if it did bond, would be pointless..

i'm a zaino fan. i love that stuff. it's pretty easy to use and the time invested is well worth it 'cause it lasts so long. it smells good too. i first learned about it from dennis kirban the buick grand national guru. he said that dust doesn't stick as much because of the zaino's properties. he's right! i drove one of my cars down a dusty road and thought rats there goes my clean car, but when i got home there was hardly any dust at all!
just follow the directions and you'll be very happy with the results. it's a little pricey but you can stop buying and trying different waxes because zaino is the best.

Topping off a sealant with wax is not for clarity but to achieve a deep, rich finish. It depends on what you want to achieve but a lot of detailers feel that shine is nothing without depth.

If you were going to put wax on top of Zaino, which kind of product woul you use? I probably wouldn't do it unless it protected the painted finish better.

Improving the depth of your finish aside, some people top off their sealants with wax as a sacrificial layer of protection. But like I posted above, there may be a bonding problem with wax over a polymer protectant. If you are already using Zaino products, it's probably best to use the Z-6 or apply multiple coats of the Z-2.

As for what wax to use, it kinda depends on the color of your paint, how often you wax, and how much money you want to spend. I use Pinnacle Signature on my wife's silver car and Souveran on my BSP tC.

Hope this helps :)

Hmmm......you know I have used evry high end polish over the years Zymol, Zaino, Meguirs, Ultra Finish etc....and you might laugh but Nu Finish seems to work just as good id not better than most..and it is cheap as hell

I haven't used too many high end products.......but I can compare Zymol and Nu Finish..........cause I've used Nu Finish and it's easy and looks good. The Zymol that I just bought is such a pain in the ___ to use that I got ____ed off after waxing my hood and didn't wax the rest of my car.
