Does anyone have a custom sunroof installed on their scion, and now water leaks through the roof when it rains? Let me know your experience.

I have a custom sunroof on my XB, and now it's raining season... water is beginning to leak in. I'm gonna get it fixed... I hope. I just want to let you guys know before you decide to install a custom sunroof.

I will be posting pics and a "How To" when I get back from vacation next week.

I had mine installed last year, in September. It had no problems. But now, when raining season is back, it leaked. My headliner was wet from the sides, right above the windows. I am not sure where the water is leaking from, but I will either bring it back to the shop or take off the headliner myself.

SmartA, if you can give me tips or show me a "How To" take off my headliner and check for leaks, that would be awesome!

Best thing to do to check for leaks is to go from the top of the car.

If your seeing water on the headliner and its not directly on the edges its gotta be the seal on the roof around the headliner. You can get new seal for that from just about any homedepot or something like that.

Did you have yours professionally installed? (warrenty) If not you probably didnt use enough seal on it or the installer didnt. We goop the hell out of it smoosh it down then clean up the excess that squeezes out to make sure its got enough sealent.

Also alot of time sunroofs leak becuase of the brand they are. I never use anthing except Webasto.

Mine is Webasto, professionally installed. I will bring it back to the shop sometime soon. Mine is still under warranty.

I spoke with the place that installed it today, and they said that the XB's roof is really flat... so sometimes water stays in the roof and doesnt drain out. And when you drive uphill/downhill, the water goes into the headliner instead of outside from the drain. Anyways, he told me to bring it in and have them take a look.

I will keep everyone updated.

here is my update:

I brought my car back to the shop and they fixed the sunroof and headliner. They said that water was not going down the drain pipe tube in the headliner correctly. It should be fixed now and I will just have to wait until it rains again.

Update:

I brought my car back to the shop, had it fixed, it rained yesterday, and no leak so far. Legit!
