Default single din HU

When are they going to make a kit for a single din HU? I have a nice alpine I am waiting to put in so I can put the rest of my sound system in. Is it possible to use the 1st gen metra dash kit?

just bought one and it works pretty good. you'll have to cut off some of the tabs to make it work right, but it works great.

Yes i went to Ultimate Electronice & bought a single DIN unit & they used a kit off their shelves.. I asked the installer if he cut off a tab or two & he said nope.. so they make 'em.. just go to Curcuity City or B-Buy or Ultimate electronics & buy yourself one!!! good luck.. jh

A single din for an 08 or a 06 I would think it would be the same as the older ones. Also how do you take the stereo out

not sure if the 06 and 08 are the same. to remove the stereo, put your 2 thumbs inside one of the vents next to the HU and grip the top of the surround with your fingers and pull it straight out. (its all clipped on) don't pull the vent tabs themselves!!! once it pops out, do the same to the other side. there is a trim piece under that (right above the AC controls... grab that and pull straight out (clipped in also) then you'll see the 4 10mm bolts that hold the HU in. straight forward and simple... just be careful!! hope that helps

Does anyone know if the 06 and the 08/09 single din dash kits are the same? I have mine left over from when I had my 06 and want to install a single din in my 09 but Circuit City and Best Buy only have the old ones. I just don't want to take apart my dash and extract the stock stereo without knowing first.
