I now have this on 2 of my tires and the car doesnt even have 3K miles on it. Anyone else get this ? I am guess its a common problem with low profile tires (with potholes etc) ?? Its right were that little "lip" on the tire is.

mostlikely hit a pothole pretty hard.

i'd replace that if I were you. sidewall damage is pretty dangerous. you don't want a blow out at high speeds.

Your last picture it looks like there is a scratch under your finger...are you sure you didnt just curb your rim?

Replace the affected tires. Tires are wear items. Their life is impacted in many ways, and catastrophic failures are not uncommon. Make sure you keep them inflated to the appropriate psi, and take it easy over potholes and other roadway hazards.

The front rim is scratched but the rear is not. I feel like if i buy new tires the same thing is going to happen. I do all city driving.

p.s

Also the tear is only where that extra rubber comes out. I was going to try and "ride it out" for a bit and see if i make the winter.

I would say you hit a curb lightyl. Maybe a low enough curb where it didnt hit the rim hard.

Curb rash wouldn't usually cause that. That is definately hitting a pot hole. Get it fixed...

maybe someone tried to slash your tires
but he was either too weak or didnt have a sharp enough object
and gave up
