Default 2006 tC...going to tint my windows

Anywhere good in SoCal that anyone can recommend? I want a good price but a quality job... no problems down the line.

Anywhere between Rancho Cucamonga and LA???

I want to make them as dark as possible w/o being illegal. What % do you guys recommend? (I READ THE OTHER THREAD, but I still wasn't 100% clear on what was the best route)

DARK, but not illegal. WHERE???

so.... get limo in the back and nothing on the windshield, driver, or front passenger window.

but i say go illegal anyways... everyone does it. my suggestion is 35% on the driver and front passenger, 17% everything behind the drivers seat.

do lots of ppl get bugged by the cops for having 35% on the driver/passenger? or is it strictly if you get a noticable change in the windshield..

The cops look at the sides, they don't seem to care about the windshield. I had 18% on the sides and windshield, and all of my tickets were just for the side windows. The cops never said anything about my 18% windshield, not even once. Most of the time when they got me it was because they observed me from the side, like I would be crossing an intersection and a cop would turn from the cross-street to follow me. It really makes no difference what you do with your windshield because they are going to be looking at the sides. Although, like I said, I had 18%, so maybe 35% isn't going to be so bad. I now have 50% because of all the tickets I was getting.

It really up to your taste. The question you need to ask yourself is Do i like it dark inside or not?. I got 20% for the front 2 window and all round 5%. It pretty dark inside good for driving in the morning, but bad driving at night. =)

i wish i could base it off my preference. but i just dont want to deal with getting pulled over and having to change anything--NOT going to do that.

so i just want a nice medium where i wont have to deal w/the cops hassling, and where i will feel like--"yeah, these windows are pretty tinted"

lol

Well, the point is that anything is illegal on the fronts in CA. We already established that. The question is just how illegal do you want to go?

well one person might not have problem but another ones going to behave poorly or catch a cop on a bad mood and next thing you know you have extra bills to pay. just keep it legal if it's going to make you paranoid and keep the cops job a bit easier. nothing worse then pulling some kids over at night and you can barely see inside the car.

20% all around and I've never been bugged by any cops despite the enormous amounts of cops we have around here.
You might want to consider how dark you go in the rear by the way. At 20% you can barely see out the back if at all.

No one in California keeps it legal, but there is a certain amount you can get away with...

- I had 50% all around (including windshield) on my Echo. No tickets in 4 years.
- I had 18% all around (including windshield) on my tC. About one ticket per month, for 6 months.
- Changed the tC to 18% on the backs and 50% on the fronts (including windshield). No tickets since then (3 months).

All of the above was completely illegal, but I never got tickets for the 50s. My conclusion is that you can get away with 50% in California, and many people have even gotten away with 35%. However, I also know people who have been ticketed for 35%, so it's a bit sketchy. If you get 35% then it will come down to luck whether or not you get pulled over. If you get 18% like I did, then you WILL get pulled over. That was a big mistake and I grew tired of it after a while.

i think it also depends on the color of your car. white or light color paint is going to make 20% tint stand out more than on a dark colored car.
I have 20% all around except windshield- which tinting the windshield is just dumb IMO- and have never been pulled over. I also drive safe and keep an eye out for cops at all times. Most who get popped for tint mainly get pulled over for other crap like speeding and the tint ticket is just a "walk around the car to see what else I can get ya for"

Well my tickets were always for tint and nothing else. I even got hit with a tint ticket while rolling through a parking lot at 5mph. Another factor is that the tinted windshield made all the other windows look darker. The tinted sunroof had the same effect. The less light that is getting into the car, the darker the windows look. It basically looked almost like limo tint, I think mostly because of the windshield.

I have 20% all around and i never have gotten pulled over as there are tons of cops where i live too. But if you want to be pretty safe but still have good tint id suggest of course nothing on the very front windshield but 35% on the front passenger/driver side windows, and 20% on the rear three windows. 35% is safe enough where id really doubt you would get pulled over for that but you will still have some tint on your front side windows.

I have 35% on my front two windows and 15% on the back three. So far I haven't had any problems with cops, hopefully I won't ever have problems. If you want to drive out towards the beach area, look up TintPlus in Lake Forest. I got my tint done there and they'll give a good deal to anyone who comes from the site
