Default Taking out the spare wheel + jack.

And everything under the trunk, will that make a difference whatsoever in performance/gas mileage? I know its not going to be significantly better, but hey less weight is less weight.

Why would you do something like that? What if you have an emergency and you're a million miles away from home, its snowing 3 feet of snow, its -20 degrees, deserted highway, cell phone battery is dead and there's no gas station or exit for another 20 miles and you pop a tire. What will you do?

Don't ask questions, just do it. I did. My spare and jack and miscellaneous other crap are in my garage. It's just dead weight. Any reduction in weight will improve performance and gas mileage. In this case, your improvement will probably be about 0.3%, but hey, every little bit helps. If you are hardcore then you can remove the rear seats and interior panels for a decent improvement. If you are really hardcore about weight reduction then get a CF roof, trunk, and hood.

Hey, why not. If you can afford it. Some of the top-end sports cars have CF bodies.

Yeah, they do. It's definitely a weight-saving measure more than anything else. Obviously you would lose the moonroof/sunroof, but you would also be getting rid of all that heavy glass. The Kaminari CF roof claims to remove about 50lbs, but it also claims to not be street-legal. But hey, who would know about it?

doesn't really matter. kanundrum has removed everything from behind the front seats. it really isn't alot of weight to remove. he put it back in for the winter to help keep warm.

Take out the engine and transaxle, that alone is several hundred pounds.
Not to mention your fuel expense will come down to $0.00

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Yeah ... CF everything is pretty much the only way to go ... as far as I know ... the tC doesn't have any like CF chassis parts, lol. But hey, a CF roof would make the tC look kinda like an M6, YUMMY!

I went to the strip sunday so I took out passenger seat, passenger door panel, back seats, and everything in the trunk. Car weighed 2710 with me in it. Big difference indeed.

I wouldn't take out the spare or jack. Just in case of an emergency.

But if you dont drive much, or far, and you know you could get help in case of a flat or w/e then by all means take them out.

i have a question, has anybody replaced the glass roof with something like lightweight lexani glass?

the cf roof is cool, but it ruins the fun of having a tc.

I believe I'd just accept the tC for what we all know it is....

A very sporty import with an affordable sticker price. It was never intended to be a race car.

I have been wondering the same thing! I think it would be cool and not very hard to do, thought it would prolly be pretty expensive. I also wonder if you could do it with some kind of high-impact polycarbonate ... just an idea ...
