A friend of mine told me the LED is going to be available as an option on our XD. LIke the TC. It will be available next Spring 2008~! OH YEAH~! :clap:

Does your friend know someone on the inside or are they on the inside to know such information? I think it would be too early to offer the xD with different tails after being on the market for almost 6months. Would be ____ed if this was true and they actually looked good.

Why? "upgrading" won't be hard.

it won't be too early. because back to few years ago while TC in the market, the LED light also available after 8 months or so. Plus, taking off the rear tail light is not difficult. Couple Screws from the rear bumper, then you can reach the Tail light. I will let you guys know once I got the latest picture of the LED~!

Any updates on the rear tail lights? As usual, Toyota/Scion wait and wait and wait before anything is released. I'm really curious to see what they look like.

If anything, I bet they're going to be on the RS xD only.

Well no LEDs on the RS 1 xD and so far it doesn't look like any accessories with LEDs for us either. Scion better realize they've got a hot car on their hands and start coming out with more factory aftermarket parts. :P

Yeah, I totally want to upgrade to some sweet tail lights. Hopefully they'll come out soon.

They are out. I just got my set in today. We're deciding if we want to install them though.

And yes, the "red" back of the tail lamp is blacked out on this one!

Yes sir. It's a circle with the back up light on the bottom, and turn signal light on top. There is a divider in the circle, so only the top half illuminates for the blinker and bottom half only for the reverse.

We're planning to install them on our car to do a full function showcase (off, brake, headlamp on, turn signal, reverse), but funds are low at the moment :rofl: We just ordered our exhaust and the Tanabe is a pretty (huge) handful of pennies.

not too bad. id really like to see them on the MG color, obviously, heh. theyd probably look even better tinted a little, otherwise i think they stand out even more than the stock ones.

they look better than stock. and it doesn't make the xD look like a dodge caliber from the back now.

I tried to match the gray based on the photo of your car in your profile. It might not be perfect but hopefully it helps you get an idea. I did the same for BSP for myself.

Blackout of the bottom half woul be ideal, IMO. The top looks fine to me. The turn signal/reverse lamp just looks so out of place.....

I had a tail lamp/head lamp manufacturer hit me up in regards to custom LEDs for Scions. I'll post some info up once I get more information. I have a sample of their older civic corner lamp and it looks good... and the highlight: DOT APPROVED.

yeah thats the reason i got em, cause im runin a whole black and gunmeatal theme. and black chrome can really go both ways with a black theme or gunmeatle theme.

FYI, anyone ordering from TRD Sparks, give it some extra time. Looks like they don't keep them on hand. They have to get them from "the warehouse" and then ship them out. Should have them next week, though. Heck, by then I might even have an xD to put them on!

Yeah... and to make sure the LEDs never end up on your car, you should buy my stock tail lights so you have a backup set.

I have never wanted LED tails for any car I've had... but I think these actually look better than stock. Well, I have to be honest... if I had found a set of GTI smoked tails at a salvage yard, I'd have bought them for my Golf... but it never happened. I would have to say that this is the first time I have ever done a purely aesthetic mod to any car I've owned.

Same way I do it when I'm checking out my trailer lights... a piece of 2x4 between the seat and the pedal!

I've had the LED tails for the past 25k miles. Three of the LED's (forming a diagonal line) have "burnt out". I am waiting to see if the dealer would warranty them (I bought them after the car).

Just a heads up.

They should cover it... it is an OEM part.

I got a set from a raffle yesterday and had them put on the car. I stood behind the car multiple times tryin to figure out whats missing. remember I have dark gray already. they look maked on this color. so I'm gonna do a quicky wrap with clear red vinyl. I still don;t care for the turnsignal area. it's so out of context form the rest of the light. everything gunmetal chrome and these starburst chrome lense circles. I may tint the rest of the light to hide that a little. so wait til it warms up so I can work with all that stuff and we'll see what comes out of it

I take it you liked the sound when I left the mall? Thanks again for these. I will be getting the bottom tinted. That turn signal and back up portion stands out too much for my liking. I will also put LEDs for the turn signals seeing that the orange from the bulb can be seen as well.

I think so too. if they are tinted, you won't see the bulbs anyway. but they will look better.

I am looking to replace the turn/reverse lights in my TYC tails.

The manual says the turn is - 7684, 798e
The reverse is - 7505

I have tried to research these for replacements and found only one company (Sixity) that referenced the 7505, which is apparently a 7440 as well (very easy to find).

However, using all of my google skills I could not find anything that recognized 7684 or 798e as bulb types.

Can anyone help me out here? Is it just a standard size that TYC wanted to me very difficult to replace without going to the dealership? They do give part #s for Toyota.

It's not anything special... you can get it at any auto parts store. Just make sure the wattage is correct.
