View Full Version : Supercharger, I see them but where can I buy them?
mikeluvsjo 01-06-2004, 02:36 AM I am looking for a supercharger for the little 1.5. It is the same engine that is in the ECHO so some performance parts are out there like Turbo chargers, but I can't find the superchargers. I know they are out there because I see them on peoples XA's and B's on the internet. Is it some secret? does anyone know anything about procuring a supercharger?
UrbanDrum 01-06-2004, 02:38 AM I don't think they're available yet...I'ld have one :?
Docsnuff 01-06-2004, 02:39 AM I have heard that GReddy has one on the market!

allblackxb 01-06-2004, 02:41 AM All i know is that the people that have them are sponsered. But some companies are soon to realease both S/C and T/C's. I can't wait til TRD comes out with their S/C.

I've heard about Greaddy's too but I don't know about "on the market"
mikeluvsjo 01-06-2004, 03:18 AM TRD released that they are not going to make a supercharger but a turbo only. I kow it sucks.
scionmag 01-06-2004, 03:30 AM Actually... TRD will have a supercharger... check out the pictures on scionmag.com... Have a picture of the supercharger installed....
showpaojoe 01-06-2004, 03:35 AM It is the same engine that is in the ECHO so some performance parts are out there like Turbo chargers, but I can't find the superchargers.
were is this turbo that you have found? that is VERY important
DibujoB 01-06-2004, 03:37 AM TRD is making a S/C for the tC
the xA and xB are getting a turbo from TRD.
Aftermarket, there's a bunch of superchargers....blitz, power enterprises, etc.
not too sure about turbos.
We're putting the blitz s/c on our project car, and I (personally) wouldn't put anything but TRD on my xB because I like my warranty.
allblackxb 01-06-2004, 04:36 AM There is a turbo for the echo that makes 172whp on www.eiptuning.com
Crazy stuff.
HotBox 01-06-2004, 05:15 AM There is a turbo for the echo that makes 172whp on www.eiptuning.com
Crazy stuff.
can you point me in the right direction all i saw was pics no dyno sheets
HotBox 01-06-2004, 05:16 AM oh yeah does the echo also have the returnless fuel line?? someone wanna explain what that means?? i read about it on a thred a while back but i forgot
ONEQWICKSCIONXB 01-09-2004, 07:41 AM TRD Supercharger will be released in June 2004 and be covered by a 3 yr 36000 mile warranty and add +50HP and +50TRQ so you will be running low 14's high 13's in the 1/4 mile and it will be around $2500.00..................
JDMxB 01-09-2004, 01:30 PM Blitz and Power Enterprise already have a Supercharger available to purchase for the xB.
TRD will be making a Turbocharger for the xB...who knows when it will come out though. Same thing applies with Greddy...they have one for the bB, but need to tune things for the xB.
1NZFE 01-09-2004, 01:56 PM huh :? : Concept turbo is a prototype supercharger? odd description
"The TRD Concept Turbo xB showcases the TRD 1.5L Prototype Supercharger that provides an additional 50 horsepower and 50 lb.-ft of torque — almost a 50% increase over the 2004 TRD xB's 108 horsepower DOHC inline 4. On top of this, the Concept Turbo features the TRD Sport Muffler which Toyota says brings in an additional 3 horsepower and 3 lb.-ft. torque, along with "tuned sound, without intrusive noise". Do the math, that's 161 horsepower using parts straight from Toyota! (Toyota's TRD Parts Catalog describe the Scion Sport Muffler as offering a 2 hp increase.) Sitting on Racing Hart Evolution 5-spoke brushed aluminum wheels (18"x7.5") with the TRD designation and TRD-logo center caps with 215/35 tires from Pirelli, the Concept Turbo xB has a tuner engineered appearance straight from Toyota. Let's hope Toyota makes the production Turbo just as racy."
Spec:
TRD 1.5L Prototype Supercharger
Utilizes a Garrett T25R turbocharger with intercooler
Increases horsepower up to 50 hp and 50 lb.-ft of torque
Provides up to 7 lbs. Boost

With jusy that in no way will you cut 4 seconds off. You will be right at ~160hp which is the same as a Civic Si. Which runs mid to high 15's stock. Since we weigh ~400lbs less we should be hitting low 15's to high 14's.
mikeluvsjo 01-10-2004, 01:41 AM I am not going check on it myself but dont forget that Hp doesn't always determine acceleration. What is the difference in the gear ratio? there are a few little things can make minor differences. and VVT helps out too but I dont know if the Si has that as well, I thought all cars did. My 87 Alfa Romeo has VVT and it is old. Chances are that you are right though but a supercharger on this little car might improve acceleration beyond just the HP increase in it. We will have to wait and see. i just want to believe ya know?
kwicslvr 01-10-2004, 11:13 AM That's some bvery true points. But I would wager that like any economy car these cars are geared for cruising just like the echo, civics, etc.... When they thought of this car, acceleration was not even a thought, they wanted mpg.
UrbanDrum 01-10-2004, 11:56 AM Is a Scions engine much different then a Corolla's? I know there's a TRD supercharger for them...
Docsnuff 01-10-2004, 12:12 PM Is a Scions engine much different then a Corolla's? I know there's a TRD supercharger for them...
I think the Corolla engine is whats in the tC, we have an Echo engine, Ours is a 1.8? Liter, and the Corolla/tC engine is a 2.4? liter.
Or something like that...

The tC is the current Camry/Solara 4cyl engine, 2AZFE, which replaced the older Camry/Solara 5SFE. The current gen (non XRS) Corolla engine is 1ZZ-FE. We have the Echo's 1.5L 1NZFE engine. In our case, 1=1st generation, N=Engine family name, Z=another unrelated vehicle with the N family manufactued by Toyota, F= fuel economy, E=engine.
Now if you want to Turbo the 1NZFE, you may change it to: 1NZ-FTE. If supercharged, you may change it to: 1NZ-FZE. How do I know of this, I cheated   from SportCompactCar

Skywalker 01-15-2004, 02:43 AM Don't forget the biggest advantage of this car as far as drag racing is concerned....it's light as hell! And if you're dedicated to dragging, you can make it even lighter. Gut it, swap the motor, FI, and it would be pretty quick.
Docsnuff 01-15-2004, 02:53 AM You want a S/C, check out the post in the Performance forum....

TSiAWD 02-04-2004, 10:27 AM I recall that it required 4 shifts before reaching the quarter mile marker on an xB
that means the gearing is unsuitable for drag racing, it is geared too LOW not to high
The reason it gets good gas milage is light weight and tiny engine not gearing.
SO far all I have seen is Greddy turbo kit and TRD turbo kit, and I am waiting to hear from Area 51 about their supercharger kit.
So far nothing has been released as the things just went on widespread sale on monday.
they are not going to start selling until there are at least a few thousand, not hundred owners looking to upgrade. UN til the n I would tweak it and tweak it.

I beleive that Motegi Racing xB has Area 51 kit installed. I read it somewhere on the web.
DibujoB 02-06-2004, 12:08 AM I've heard the blitz kit is going to be available pretty soon, but that's just a rumor...I didn't hear it from Blitz.

the civic si doesnt come close on torque due to the stroke of the b16... and it only puts 138hp at the wheels on dyno from that 160hp at the crank due to loss.... http://hondata.com/images/civicsi.gif .....unless your talkin about the newer si which is junk and slower......why i got a 2k si before they were gone....my si stock did 138whp and 118ft lbs of torque off the dealer floor when i bought it.....my scion when i get the work done will be at 150whp or better putting me into the low 14's....i ran 15flat in the civic

The turbo for xa, xb and vitz is already out in Japan
It add 30Kw to the car. (110 KW - 80KW)
30Kw = 40 more horsepower
The price is 598,000 yen = US $5,675
very expensive for 40 hp
